STLP Winter Virtual Judging Competition 
 
 
 

Winter Virtual Judging Competition is a competition that is put on by the state STLP and includes students from all over the state. This year our options to enter products into the competition are limited to 5 different categories. 
 
  • Digital Art Product - This is a category for those interested in being creative and using technology to create the art. This art can be created in many different ways. Many students enjoy using the program Paint on the computer to create their art or even something as sophisticated as Photo Shop. Many students also create this art on their tablets or similar devices using apps, This must be completely student created and include a written explanation of how it was created. Parents or teacher may assist the student, but it must be lead by the student. (These programs can be installed on the school computer lab computers, please have student see Mr. Jones if interested.)
  • Manipulated Image Product - This is a category for those interested in photography and editing the photos. The photo can be made with any digital device and can be edited in any program. Many students have used Photo Shop, Picasa, Gimp or other photo editing software or apps. This must be completely student created and and include a written explanation of how it was created. Parents or teacher may assist the student, but it must be lead by the student. (These programs can be installed on the school computer lab computers, please have the student see Mr. Jones if interested)
  • Music Product -  This is a category for those interested in music and creation of music. There are two different sub-categories for this product. 
      • The first is Electronic Manipulation, which is using preset loops/manipulation existing software sounds, using programs like Garageband, Audacity, or Cakewalk. Student must include written explanation of how it was created and how each loop was altered and created. Parents or teacher may assist the student, but it must be lead by the student. (Mrs. Hartman and Mr. Jones have worked together to get Groovy Jungle, a music computer program that they can use to create music, installed in the Computer Lab. Please have student contact Mr. Jones if interested in learning how to do this.) 
      • The second is Composed Music, which the student would create the entire piece of music and insert the music into a program such as Finale or Sibelius. Parents or teacher may assist the student, but it must be lead by the student.

  • Original Photo Product - This is a category for the students who enjoy taking photos that do not need editing. Student should be the person taking the picture, and deciding what type of picture to take.  Many students find something that means a lot to them to make the subject of their picture.  Parents or teacher may assist the student, but it must be lead by the student. 
  • Story Telling Project - This is a category for the students who enjoy writing stories and telling stories. Students will need to write a story, fiction or non-fiction, and then place it into a digital program such as Photo Story. Parents or teacher may assist the student, but it must be lead by the student.
