The VFW Post 5712 recently sponsored the "Voice of Democracy" essay contest for high school students. The essays were written in response to the question "What Makes America Great?" Taking first place honors was Ella Burch, the 17-year old daughter of David and Kelly Burch. Burch received $500. Second place ($250) was Damon Stone, the 17-year olf son of Daniel and Amy Stone and third place was Ethan Farris, the 15-year old son of John and Olivia Farris.
