Lady Patriots Drop Third Consecutive

Allison Meador scored 16 points and gathered five rebounds and recorded four steals, Jae McReynolds added nine points, three assists, four steals, and a team-high six rebounds, and Jayleigh Steenbergen added nine points for Allen County-Scottsville in a 57-47 loss to Edmonson County Tuesday, January 21, at Patriot Gym.

Edmonson County opened an early 8-2 lead and stretched their lead to seven, 18-11, after the first quarter. The Lady Patriots outscored the Lady Wildcats 8-6 in the second quarter to pull within five, 24-19 at halftime---despute Edmonson County shooting 52.6% from the floor in the opening half. AC-S closed to within four, 34-30, by the end of the third quarter before Edmonson County used a series of early fourth quarter baskets to extend their lead to double-digits, eventually taking the game by 10.

Shooting struggles continue to plague the Lady Patriots. AC-S missed 25 shots in the first 16 minutes but was able to pick of their shooting in the final half. Overall, AC-S was 16-55 from the floor (29.1%) for the game. At the line, the Lady Patriots were 13-16 (81.3%). Edmonson County made 20-42 shots (47.6%) in the game but struggled at the line (16-29, 55.2%). Edmonson County dominated the boards, 43-26.

AC-S (4-14, 1-2) returns to action Friday night in a District 15 game at Barren County (14-4, 4-0). The Trojanettes defeated the Lady Patriots 65-36 on December 20 in Scottsville. Barren County has won three consecutive games and six of their last seven, including a 68-35 win at Monroe County on Monday. A Barren County win Friday will assure the Trojanettes at least a tie for the top seed for next month’s District 15 tournament at Patriot Gym.
