Archers Compete in First Shoot of Year

   Archers representing the Allen County Intermediate Center, the James E. Bazzell Middle School, and the Allen County-Scottsville High School participated in the Bristow Invitational and the Warren East 3D Fun Shoot Friday and Saturday at Ephraim White Park in Bowling Green. 

   In the 10-meter Elementary Division (archers from fourth and fifth grades), ACIC fifth-grader Madison Dickerson took top honors for boys and girls combined. Dickerson shot a 255. ACIC fifth-grader Taylor Uhles scored a 246 to place third overall in the event while fifth grade student Madison Gaddis recorded a 242. Fifth-grader Hunter Clayton was seventh overall with a score of 241 followed by fifth grader Dylan Overman 241, who was eighth overall, a spot lower than Clayton based on fewer less tens. ACIC students Brian Hayes and Matthew Traughber both notched scores of 229 to complete top-11 placements for ACIC in the division.

   Additional ACIC archers shooting 200 or above include Elijah Sizemore (228), Dalton Greer (2240, Clayton Jones (217), Wyatt Seifrig (216), Isabella Couch (216), Aiden Blankenship (214), Caden Elmore (213), Will Cannon (210), Jacob Ferrar (210), and Logan Roof (201). A total of 61 archers from ACIC competed in the division.

   In the middle school division, both ACIC and the JEBMS fielded team for the 15m event. Seventh-grade shooter Ryan Wolfe led the way for the Bazzell Middle School shooting a 283---placing him third overall in the field of 137 boy-girl shooters combined event. Seventh-grader Travis Jackson scored a 261 to place 14th in the division. Eighth-grader Daniel Brown notched a 260 while seventh-grader Kash Taylor matched Brown with a 260. The pair finished 16th and 17th in the event. Additional scores for JEBMS students shooting 200 or above were Andrew Woods (250), Wessly Butler (245), Landon Witt (239), Erin Penny (237), Calen Underwood (236), Travis McGee (231), Gabby Corbett (229), Olivia Nelson (226), Allie Matlock (224), Kaydence Davis (219), Aidan Stone (213), and Rebecca Ragan (200). An additional eight shooters from the middle school also competed.

   For Allen County Immediate Center’s sixth-grade team taking part in the event, Jonah Hamby shot a 246 to lead the way for his school. Jaxen Carver posted a score of 255 while Hayley Ditlevson shot a 233. Additional 200 or above scorers were Lexis Loggins (231), Maylee Westmoreland (229), Weston McCoy (224), James Fisher (222), Tyler Marsh (219), Keagan Petty (219), Brayden Holland (205), and Carter Douglass (201). The event included 25 sixth graders from ACIC.

  The Bristow shoot also marked the first time a group of students participated in archery in competition for Allen County-Scottsville High School. Freshman Cole Meador shot a 273 to lead the AC-S team. His score was 20th in the 168 boys and girls participating. Additional ACS scores included Caelan Fox (262), Calvin Smith (253), Gabriel Oshesky (248), and Brayden Gaddis (202).

   The Bristow event also included the Warren East 3D Fun Shoot with several archers from each school also competing. In the elementary division, Jonah Hamby shot a 272---to rank first in the middle school boys field and second among all boys shooting in the event. Hayley Ditlevson recorded a 239, to rank third among school girls and 16th overall in the girls competition. Additional 200-or-higher ACIC scores in 3D were Taylor Uhles (236)---the highest elementary girls ranking---JoyDale Williams (223), Keagan Petty (217), Lexis Loggins (212), Maylee Westmoreland (211), and Carter Douglass (202). A total of 17 archers from ACIC shot 3D at the elementary and middle school levels combined.   

   Shooting 3D for Bazzell Middle School, Kash Taylor led the way with a 248. Taylor was fifth among the middle school entrees. Additional scores above 200 from JEBMS were Ryan Wolfe (248), Gabby Corbett (226), Andrew Woods (217), and Erin Penny (205). The middle school had nine archers shoot 3D.

   Calvin Smith shot a 267 for the high school in the 3D competition. Smith---the only ACS archer to participate in 3D---placed second among the high school archers overall.
