Archers Participate in Butler Shoot

   Archery team members representing the James E. Bazzell Middle School, the Allen County Intermediate Center, and the Allen County-Scottsville High School participated in the Butler County Middle School Bullseye Tournament November 22-23 in Morgantown.

   The top Bazzell Middle School archers for the weekend were Travis Jackson and Gabby Corbett. Jackson shot a 259 (out of a possible 300) to lead the Bazzell team and place 14th in a 62-archer field of middle school shooters. Corbett posted a score of 244, included four tens. Archer Shyla Houchens also had a 244 score but registered three 10’s.   

   The top seventh grade female archers from the middle school also included Quinn Hartman (237), Erin Penny (221), and Allie Matlock (219). Top seventh grade male archers also included Aidan Stone (244). The top Bazzell eighth grade female archers were Shelby Hughes (216), Amber Smith (211), and Rebecca Ragan. Top eighth grade male archers were Wessly Butler (225) and Julian Jones.

   The ACIC archers competed at Butler County in both the elementary and middle school divisions of the tournament. The top Sharp Shooters in the elementary division were Taylor Uhles and Hunter Clayton. Uhles shot a 238 to place second in the girls’ field of 22 shooters. Clayton recorded a score of 199 to place 10th in the boys’ elementary field of 39 archers. 

   Top ACIC archers and their scores per class were FaithAnna Williams, Kaylee Dickerson, and Kyara Begley in the fourth grade girls division. Among the boy’s fourth grade archers, the top three shooters were Will Edwards, Caden Elmore, and Thomas Bratcher. Among fifth grade ACIC girls, the top three scores were posted by Uhles, Madison Dickerson and Abigail Cherry. Following Clayton for the boys high scores were Brian Hayes and Will Canon. 

   The top archers from ACIC in the middle school division were Hayley Ditlevson (244) and Keagan Petty (242). Joining Ditlevson in the top three female shooters from ACIC were Lexis Loggins (241) and JoyDale Williams (221). For the male shooters, Petty was followed by Jonah Hamby (232) and James Fisher (232). Jaxon Carver (226), Madison Dickerson (223), Landon Uhles (217), and Maylee Westmoreland (201) also shot scores of 200 or better.

   Three archers representing AC-S also took part in the event. Calvin Smith fired a 273, 14th among high school boys. Hunter Strain and Damon Stone also participated.

   The archery teams are slated to return to competition on December 14 at the Russellville Panther Winter Warm-up in Russellville.
