The Allen County-Scottsville High School
athletic department has announced the December Student-Athletes of the Month.
Honored include swimmer Leah Hartman, Lady Patriot basketball player Allison
Meador, and Patriot basketball players Michael Smith and Owen Stamper.
Leah Hartman has been swimming for
seven years---as a member of the CORE of Scottsville swim team and the past
three years as a Lady Patriot swimmer. Her times have dropped in each of the
swim events she currently participates in. In December, Hartman placed second
in the 100-yard breaststroke and third in the 100y freestyle and was on the first place
400y free relay team and the 200y medley at a swim meet in Russell County.
Away
from the water, Hartman is active in soccer, the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes, the Pep Club, the Beat Club, and Science Olympiad. Her hobbies
include exploring science and participating in Science Olympiad events.
Hartman---the sophomore daughter of Steve and Julie Hartman---plans to attend
college, perhaps at Morehead State University or the University of Alabama at
Hunstville and seek a degree in a chemistry-related field.
Allison Meador has successfully returned to the basketball court this year after missing her entire freshman and sophomore seasons due to ACL injuries. Meador averages 12.8 points and 5.8 points per game. Meador has led the Lady Patriots in scoring in 13 of their 17 games this year with her best game coming on January 20 against Butler County. Meador scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed a best 20 rebounds. In December, Meador scored 76 points over the course of the Lady Patriots’ first five games.
Away from the court, Meador is active in Pep Club, Beta Club, and serves as the parliamentarian in the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Club. She enjoys playing the piano and spending time with friends. Meador’s future plans are to play basketball in college and work to become an orthodontist. Meador is the daughter of Mark and Amy Meador.
Michael Smith is a three-year member of the Patriot
basketball program. This season, Smith is averaging 8.5 points and 3.8
rebounds. The junior scored a career-high 24 points on December 23 and grabbed
a career-high 11 rebounds on December 17.
Smith
also participates in tennis and football at AC-SH. His club involvement
includes the Pep Club and Black Heritage. Smith is the son of Catherine Brown
and Jason Brown. He is undecided on his future plans.
Owen Stamper is a three-year Patriot basketball player who
has averaged 11.7 points and 4.6 rebounds to start this season. Stamper has
recorded a season-high 21 points in games against Greenwood and Monroe County
and a season-high eight rebounds verses Cumberland County.
Stamper’s club activities include Beta Club, Pep Club, and FCA. Away from school, Stamper likes to hunt, fish, and play golf. The senior has signed to play college golf at Middle Tennessee State University and will major in Business Administration. Stamper is the son of Scott and Tasha Stamper.
