Archery Competes in Morgantown

   Archers from the Allen County-Scottsville High School, the James E. Bazzell Middle School, and the Allen County Intermediate Center participated in the Butler County High School Quiver-Shiver Bullseye tournament last weekend in Morgantown.

   The ACIC sixth-grade team---shooting in the middle school division---had 13 of their 20 archers shoot 200 or above. Topping the list was Jonah Hamby with a 266. Owen Talbott fired a 250, followed by Hayley Ditlevson (249), Lexis Loggins (244), and Carter Douglass (241). Additional 200-plus scorers were Foster Berry (238), Keagan Petty (238), Jaxen Carter (234), Landen Uhles (226), James Fisher (220), David Summers (216), Jaxon Shrum (203), and Weston McCoy (201). Additional participants on the sixth grade team included Ashely Shrum, Tyler Marsh, Maylee Westmoreland, Stephen Barr Lii, Caden Rogers, Preston Willoughby, and Mia Jacobsen.  

   Two Intermediate Center teams---a total of 34 shooters from the fourth and fifth grades---participated in the elementary division. ACIC’s Team One placed second overall with a team score of 2620. Caden Elmore led the way with a 248, ninth overall in the elementary boys division and the top shooting male fourth-grader in the competition. Taylor Uhles fired a 239 to place sixth among elementary girls and fourth in the fifth grade girls’ field. Madison Dickerson shot a 229 to place seventh in the division.

   Additional ACIC scorers above the 200 mark were Taven Westmoreland (228), Jacob Farrar (222), Jaden Toomey (220), Isabella Couch (217), Matthew Traughber (215), Hunter Clayton (212), Aiden Blankenship (207), and Madison Gaddis (206). Additional archers competing with ACIC included Will Cannon, William Edwards, Clayton Jones, Logan Roof, Gabe Blankenship, Silas Schwartz, Bryson Threet, Kaylee Dickerson, Kaden Carter, John Walker, Thomas Boaz, Adalyn Smith, Braylen Hart, Camden Steenbergen, Parker Rossetter, Aubryahnna Blankenship, Jayden Harmon, Bryce Fields, Tanner Reid, Emma Spears, Lyara Begley, Scarlett Gillilan, and Dani Miller.

   From the Bazzell Middle School, Cole Jackson recorded a score of 268 to lead the way. Jackson placed 20th overall among middle school division boys and was seventh among seventh grade boys. Travis Jackson shot a 262, Quinn Hartman notched a 258, and Wessly Butler recorded a 256. Additional 200 or above scorers included Hunter Threet (247), Aidan Stone (246), Erin Penny (239), Travis McGee (238), Rebecca Ragan (229), Landon Witt (228), Amber Smith (228), Shyla Houchens (226), Tanner Swygart (225), Allie Matlock (206), and Olivia Nelson (206). Additional Bazzell archers included Shelby Hughes, and Julian Jones. 

   Top results for shooters representing the Allen County-Scottsville High School included Calvin Smith, Gabriel Oshefsky, and Cole Meador. Smith scored a 271 of a possible 300. Oshefsky shot a 258, with Meador firing a 257. Other participants from AC-SH were Brayden Gaddis, Hunter Strain, and Damon Stone.

   The teams are scheduled to compete again this weekend in the Russellville Archery Tournament. The event is also a state qualifier and will allow archers to participate in both bullseyes and 3D competitions.
