The Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot softball team posted a pair of wins Wednesday at the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. AC-S downed the Academy of Notre Dame (OH) 15-0 in the opener before defeating Chesterfield (SC) 12-1.

Triples by Kassi Bullington, Allie Byrn, and Madi Gregory as well as doubles by Byrn and Gregory highlighted an 11-hit morning in the Lady Patriots win over Academy of Notre Dame. In addition, RBI’s off the bats of Alyssa Jones, Jae McReynolds, Brittany Anderson, Bailey Ausbrooks, Kaylee Stafford, Jordan Anderson, Amber Wimpee, Byrn, and Gregory enabled AC-S to plate 15 runs in their four-inning win.

The Lady Patriots sent 12 batters to the plate, smacked six hits, and scored eight runs in the bottom of the first. After a scoreless second, AC-S took advantage of three Academy of Notre Dame errors in the third inning---miscues that helped the Lady Patriot add six runs. Three singles led to a lone run in the fourth which ended the game by 15 run-ahead rule after four.

Lady Patriot pitcher Kris-Anne Pardue pitched three-innings of two-hit ball. The junior recorded five strikeouts on the day. Brittany Anderson worked an inning of relief for AC-S.

Against Chesterfield, Karley Burchett pitched seven innings and allowed one run on four hits. Burchett struck out 10 of the 27 batters she faced in the game.

Offensively, Ausbrooks enjoyed a four-for-five, four RBI day at the plate. Taylor Stamps went three-for-five and Byrn was three-for-four, finishing with three RBI’s. McReynolds, Burchett, and Stafford each added two hits---part of an 18-hit effort by the Lady Patriots.

The Lady Patriots opened the scoring in the first. An RBI single by Byrn scored Stamps and a triple off the bat of Ausbrooks scored Byrn giving AC-S a 2-0 lead.

AC-S added three runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Consecutive singles by Gregory, Byrn, and Ausbrooks loaded the bases in the fifth. Gregory scored on a wild pitch before Stafford plated Byrn and Kaylee Bullington (courtesy runner for Ausbrooks) to stake the Lady Patriots to a 5-0 lead. An inning later, Ausbrooks delivered a two-run a single to score McReynolds and Gregory. Kassi Bullington followed with a single to plate Byrn, giving AC-S an 8-0 lead.

McReynolds singled home Stamps to start a four-run seventh. Byrn followed with a two-RBI double and later scored on a single by Ausbrooks. Chesterfield added a lone run in their final at bat.

AC-S (7-1) will play Bishop Watterson Thursday in their final game in South Carolina.
