ACS Swim Caps Season


      Allen County-Scottville swimmers Tad Koltin Taylor and Sarah Hartman as well as the girls and boys of the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relay teams swam on the final day of competition at the Region 2 Swim Meet last weekend at the Owensboro Health Park in Owensboro.  

   For the Patriots, Taylor finished sixth in the 200y freestyle after cutting through the water for a time of 2:02.50. Taylor’s final time was almost two seconds quicker than his preliminary swim of 2:04.30. Taylor also placed 14th in the 100y backstroke with a time of 1:13.44. Taylor preliminary time in the backstroke event was 1.11.92.

   Sarah Hartman placed 11th in the 100y backstroke with a time of 1:10.87. Hartman dropped 1.20 from her preliminary time of 1:12.07 and a 4.56 improvement from her entry time of 1:15.43. Hartman also was 16th in the 200y freestyle with a time of 2:31.11. Her finals time was a rise from her Friday preliminary time of 2:30.70---a time that represented an almost 15-second improvement over her seed time of 2:45.38.

    Lady Patriot swimmers Rachel Meador, Leah Hartman, Sarah Hartman, and Hayden Petty combined for a ninth-place finish Saturday in the finals of the 200y medley relay. The group posted a time of 2:21.89, a drop of over five seconds from their pre-regional best time of 2:27.24. The finals time also represented a drop of four seconds from their preliminary swim time of 2:25.92 posted on the first day of the regionals. In the 200y free relay, the same swimmers placed 11th overall with a time of 2:07.02.

   The Patriot 200y medley relay team of Zach Ainsley, Caden McCrary, Aaron Shain, and Bradley Wagoner placed 12th in the finals of their event. The squad recorded a finals time of 2:42.55. Taylor joined Ainsley, Wagoner, and Shain on the 200y freestyle relay team to record a time of 2:14.31 in Friday’s preliminary round and qualify to swim on Saturday. The relay team did not have a Saturday time due to a disqualification.

   Additional swimmers participated in the preliminaries on Friday but failed to finish in the top 16 to advance to Saturday. Shain was 19th in the 200y IM (Individual Medley) with a time of 2:55.67 and had a time of 1:08.65 in the 100y freestyle. In the girls 50 freestyle, Rachel Meador placed 19th (29.48) and she also finished 23rd in the 100y free (1:09.63). Ainsley participated in the 50y freestyle and finished with a time of 36.70 while McCrary recorded a time of 48.66. Petty recorded a time of 1:19.17 in the 100y freestyle while Wagoner finished with a time of 1:12.40 in the 100y free. Leah Hartman finished in 20th position in the 100y breaststroke in the time of 1:29.13 while Petty notched a time of 1:46.28 in the same event. Ainsley posted a time of 1:44.76 in the 100y breaststroke with McCrary recording the time of 2:00.15.

  The Region 2 meet overall results showed that AC-S finished with a combined 63 points---finishing 12th among the 14 teams who fielded both boys and girls teams. The Bowling Green swim team won the region title for the 13th consecutive year.
