The Allen County-Scottsville High School
DECA club had six first place, seven second place, and two third place award
winners at the annual Kentucky State DECA conference this past weekend in
Louisville.
The first place winners and their area of
competition were Katelyn Bewley and Rachel Bomar (Fashion Merchandising
Promotion Plan), Aaron Borth (Business Finance Individual Series Event), Emma
Harwood (Hotel and Lodging Individual Series Event), and Alex Coleman and Mason
Towery (Buying and Merchandising Team Event).
Second place
winners were Emma Harwood (DECA Member of the Year), Katherine Foster
(Principles of Finance), Rachel Foster (Hospitality and Tourism Professional
Selling), Ally Atwood, Sydney Ausbrooks and Hadley Celsor (Public Relations
Project), and Kaleigh Shaw (Business Services Operations Research).
Placing third
in events were Spencer Boatwright (Principles of Finance) and Caitlyn Sloan (Financial
Consulting).
Students
earning fourth place awards were Jackson Hite (Professional Selling), Chase Ward
and Macayla Vernon (Start Up Business Plan), Zaide-Jade Pinson and Zena-Kole
Pinson (Hospitality & Tourism Operations Research), Brayden Richer (Accounting
Application Individual Series Event), Silas Newton (Hotel and Lodging
Management Series Event), Tabitha Whitlow (Food Marketing Individual Series
Event), Jason Sikes (Entrepreneurship Individual Series Event), Abigail Rather (Quick Serve Restaurant Individual
Series Event).
Finishing
with fifth place awards were John Calvert (Principles of Hospitality and Tourism),
Jaylee Woods (Hospitality and Tourism Professional Selling), Averie Pitchford,
Sally McPherson and Mattie Ward (Community Service Event) and Dakota Harrison (Quick
Serve Restaurant Individual Series).
Sixth place
award winners included Robert Lindsey (Principles of Hospitality and Tourism), Jaelyn Keen (Marketing Communications Individual
Series Event), Adam McGuffey and Harris Gregory (Business Law and Ethics Team
Decision Making).
The Allen
County-Scottsville chapter was recognized for being the second largest in the
state.
The top three
award winners automatically qualify to advance to the DECA International Career
Development Conference that will be held April 21-24 in Atlanta.
