Lindsey Named Co- Coach of the Year

Allen County-Scottsville boys’ basketball coach Lex Lindsey and Russellville coach Phil Todd has been selected as Co-Region 4 basketball Coaches-of-the-Year by their peers in Region 4.

Lindsey has guided the Patriots to a 10-17 record---helping the young Patriot team improve from last year’s 6-23 mark. Lindsey stepped out of retirement this year to return to the sidelines and oversee the development of a young and inexperienced Patriot team.

Inheriting a team without a single starter from last year, Lindsey has watched the Patriots improve throughout the season. The Patriots have wins over Edmonson County, Metcalfe County, Elizabethtown, Glasgow, Logan County, Butler County, Caverna, and Monroe County. Of the team’s 17 losses, eight have been by 10 points or less---including an overtime setback at Clinton County and a three-point loss at Greenwood.

Under Lindsey, the Patriots are averaging 56.4 points and 29 rebounds per game. As a team, the Patriots are shooting 49.1 percent from the field including a 59 percent shooting average in their 10 wins. AC-S is led in scoring by sophomore Brett Rippy (13.2) and senior Jack Ward (11.9). Junior Marcus Carter leads the team in rebounding (7.0) with senior Kerby Carver averaging 6.8 rebounds per game.

Todd earns the honor after guiding Russellville to an 18-10 record. The Panthers recently reached the semifinals of the All-A state tournament.

The announcement of the honors for Lindsey and Todd come alongside the release of the All- Region player selections. Franklin-Simpson’s Tavin Lovan was named Region Player-of-the-Year. Joining Lovan on the First Team are Pedro Bradshaw from Russellville, Terry Taylor from Bowling Green, Dawson Crump from Greenwood, and Skyelar Potter from Warren Central.

Second Team All-Region selections include Deangelo Wilson from Bowling Green, Trequon Patterson from Warren East, Billy Michael Dyer from Monroe County, Kyran Jones from Bowling Green, and Trey Radcliffe from Franklin-Simpson.

Third Team All-Region selections are Jared Coomer from Barren County, Zion Harmon from Bowling Green, Alex Fee from Greenwood, Jackson Harmon from Clinton County, and Jaylyn McMurry from Russellville.
