Sutton and Towery Named All-Region

   Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot sophomores Sarah Sutton and Mason Towery have been chosen for All-Region honors by the Region 4 girls’ basketball coaches. Sutton was named Second Team All-Region. Towery was named Third Team, All-Region.

Sutton averages 18.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.5 steals for AC-S. The sophomore forward has scored 512 points this year, helping lead the Lady Patriots to a 14-14 record. Sutton’s has led or shared in game scoring honors in 22 of AC-S’s 28 games, rebounding honors in 20 games, and scored 20 or more points 11 times this year---including a career-high 27 points verses McLean County in December. Sutton has grabbed 10 or more rebounds eight times including a career-high 16 rebounds against Greenwood. She has nine double-doubles this season, raising her career double-double total to 16 to date. Sutton recently surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career, becoming the 13th player in the 43-year history of Lady Patriot basketball to reach that milestone. She currently has scored 1,032 points in her four-year varsity career.

Towery averages 14 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game for the Lady Patriots. Her season point total stands at 391 and includes a 22-point game against Casey County and a career-best 23 points verses Logan County. The sophomore guard/forward notched a season-high 11 rebounds against Monroe County and dished out a career-best six assists verses Daviess County. Towery has led or shared game scoring honors eight times and led or shared rebounding honors nine times. In her second season of varsity basketball, Towery has scored 609 career points--- currently 32nd on the all-time Lady Patriot scorers’ list.

Selected by region coaches as Region 4 Player-of-the-Year was MacKenzie Coleman from Metcalfe County. Joining Coleman as First Team selections were Reagan Turner from Monroe County, Elli Bartley from Glasgow, Kailey Coffee from Russell County, and Amaya Lasley from South Warren.

Joining Sutton on the Second Team All-Region list are Keely Morrow from Bowling Green, Rose Mary Jackson from Greenwood, Zakoria Hill from Warren Central, and Ashlee McGeorge from Monroe County.

Third Team selections also include Loreal Cheaney from Russellville, Oshe Baker from Franklin-Simpson, Markizjah Mimms from Bowling Green, and Ande Flatt from Cumberland County.

Monroe County coach Dwayne Murray has been selected as the Region 4 Girls Coach of the Year. Murray has guided the Lady Falcons to a 27-2 record. Monroe County won the All-A State Tournament last month.
