Swim Team Participates in Region

  The Allen County-Scottsville swim team completed the 2016-17 swim season Friday and Saturday in Region 2 competition at the Owensboro Heath Park. Several swimmers qualified during preliminary events Friday to swim on Saturday.

   AC-S’s 400y freestyle relay team of Chance Hill, John Bomar, Wade Weisbrodt, and Tad Taylor reached the championship finals and placed eighth in the event with a final’s time of 4:03.37, five seconds faster than their preliminary time of 4:08.72. In addition, the same swimmers participated in the 200y freestyle relay and placed ninth overall. After a preliminary swim of 1:50.20, the squad reduced their time to 1:48.97 for the consolation finals.

  The Lady Patriot 200-yard medley relay team of Katherine Foster, Hayden Petty, Sarah Hartman, and Rachel Foster posted a preliminary time of 2:36.15, earning the opportunity to swim in the consolation finals Saturday. The squad swim 2:35.50 Saturday to finish in 10th place in the event. The girls’ 200y freestyle relay squad placed 11th overall. The same swimmers combined for a preliminary time of 2:19.75 and shaved four seconds in the finals (2:15.15).

  In individual boys’ events, Taylor placed 14th overall in the 200y freestyle. Taylor recorded a preliminary time of 2:05.92 and followed up with an almost similar consolation final time of 2:05.99. Hill placed 11th overall in the 200y individual medley. Hill’s final time was 2:28.53, just a few seconds slower than his preliminary time of 2:28.14. Weisbrodt was 17th in the preliminaries in the 50y freestyle (27.40). Lake Doss posted a time of 31.96 and Zach Ainsley had a time of 38.99 in the same event. Nate Harper was 23rd in the preliminaries in the 100y freestyle (1:06.75) with Doss 32nd (1:17.08). Harper had a time of 1:22.14 in the 100y backstroke. Bomar placed 21st in the preliminaries in the 100y breaststroke (1:24.65) with Ainsley having a time of 1:52.32 in the same event.

  In individual girls’ events, Hartman reached the consolation final in the 100y butterfly. After a preliminary time of 1:14.71, Hartman’s finals time was 1:15.17, 14th place overall. Hartman just missed swimming in the consolation finals in the 200y individual medley after posting a time of 2:42.40 in the 200y individual medley---missing the final transfer place by .40 seconds. Rachel Foster notched a time of 29.50 and Katherine Foster had a time of 38.87 in the preliminaries in the 50y freestyle. Rachel Foster posted a time of 1:06.28 in the 100y freestyle. In the 100y backstroke, Katherine Foster was 36th in the preliminaries (1:41.40). Petty posted a time of 1:41.86 in the 100y breaststroke to place 32nd in the field.

  AC-S’s combined team score was 78, earning 11th place for the school in the event. The Lady Patriots were 13th overall while the Patriots placed 11th among the boys’ teams.
