FFA Announces Regional Winners

  The Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter at the Allen County-Scottsville High School has announced regional results and state qualifies from the recently held regional competitions.

  Logan Stewart received the Regional Star in Agribusiness Award. Stewart will represent the Region at the State FFA Convention later this year. In addition, Stewart will have his own display at the Kentucky State Fair in August to spotlight his Custom Market Hog Operation. Stewart also placed third in the region in Impromptu Speech-Swine. Stewart also received a second place Proficiency Award for Diversified Livestock.

  Logan Haven was named the Regional Star Farmer. Haven will be interviewed on his family farm operation next week and will learn soon after if he will go on to the State level of competition. Haven also placed third in regional in Impromptu Speech-Beef. Haven also received a first place Proficiency Award for beef placement. His proficiency---a record of progress within a student’s supervised experience program---result will also move on to the state level. 

 

  Other first place award winners included a first place award for Stacee Groce for her American Institute of Cooperatives Assessment, a first place Proficiency Award for Ashley Yokley in Ag Communication, and a first place Proficiency Award for Wade Weisbrodt in Turf Grass. Yokley and Wesibrodt’s proficiencies will also go on to the state level where---along with Haven---the students will be spotlighted on stage at the state convention. 

 

  Weisbrodt also earned a second place in Impromptu Speech on Turf and Lawn Care while Tabor earned a second place in Impromptu Speech in Floral and placed second in Proficiency in Nursery.

  FFA member Alyssa Welch was elected as the Barren River Region Vice-President for the 2017-2018 school year.
