Freshman Tad Taylor placed second last Thursday to lead the Patriot cross country team to a third place team finish at the Barren County All-Comers Meet at Barren County High School.
Taylor posted a time of 11:05.55 in the 3K event at the Terry Reed course. Taylor’s time was 16 seconds off the pace set by Barren County’s Brandon Reed (10:49.16) and 11 seconds ahead of the third place time of Eli Ruth (11:16.89) from Edmonson County.
AC-S’s Davy Thompson placed 11th in the field of 52 runners with a time of 11:59.41. Jacob Carter (13:48.61), Mathew Brown (13:51.04), and Conner Davenport (13:51.29) also participated for the Patriots.
In the girls 3K at Barren County, senior Maggie Adams was 15th in the 40-runner field. Adams posted a time of 15:04.53. Lady Patriots Sally McPherson (16:06.73) and Gabrielle Tangen (16:50.59) also ran in the meet.
Saturday, Patriot and Lady Patriot runners were at Kereiakes Park in Bowling Green for the annual Purples Striders Invitational. In the boys 5K race---featuring 154 runners---Taylor finished in 43rd place with a time of 19:33.23. Thompson posted a time of 20:42.79 while Frankie Estes recorded the time of 22:11.11. Carter finished with a time of 23:29.17 with Davenport having a time of 24:31.42.
Two Lady Patriots took part in the girls meet. McPherson recorded a time of 28:36.35 while Tangen posted the time of 28:40.22.
The cross country teams are scheduled to return to action on September 23 at the Gatorland Invitational at Phil Moore Park in Bowling Green.
