Student Athletes of the Month Selected

   Eight Allen County-Scottsville High School student-athletes have been selected as November/December Athletes of the Month for their accomplishments in several fall sports. The list and their sport includes Hannah Beltz (golf), Bryson Bonds (golf), Abigail Cooper (volleyball), Conner Davenport (cross country), Hunter Foster (football), Alyson Miller (golf), Mason Towery (basketball), and Austin Woods (football).

   Hannah Beltz was a six-year member of the Lady Patriot golf team. This year, Beltz anchored a girl’s golf squad that improved week to week. Her play helped her team post solid performances at several events throughout the year. Away from golf, Beltz in active in the Pep Club and HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America). She enjoys playing golf as a hobby and attending school. Beltz’s future plans are to joint enroll at the South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) and Western Kentucky University (WKU) and pursue a degree in Respiratory Therapy. Her parents are Tim Beltz and Angie Beltz. 

   Bryson Bonds completed his fourth year of varsity golf last fall. Bonds helped the Patriot golf team continue to make strides this past year and improved his stroke average during the season. Away from the course, Bonds is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Beta, and the Pep Club. His future plans are to attend college at Eastern Kentucky University and enter the criminal justice field. He is the son of Amanda Emery and Brad Bonds.

   Abigail Cooper, the daughter of Vicki and Chad Cooper, is a six-year member of the volleyball program at AC-S. On the court, Cooper has helped her squad improve tremendously in recent years, capped off by a 19-8 record last fall. In 2016, Cooper received the Most Dedicated Award for AC-S volleyball. In addition to playing volleyball, Cooper is active in DECA and the Pep Club. She enjoys spending time with family in her free time. Cooper plans to attend SKYCTC and WKU and enter the nursing field.

   Conner Davenport finished his third year with the Patriot cross country program. Davenport posted several career-best efforts this season. In addition to running cross country in the fall and track in the spring, Davenport is active in JROTC. Away from school, the AC-S junior enjoys working on cars. Davenport is the son of heather Davenport and Roger Davenport. His future plans are undecided.

   Hunter Foster played football for four years at AC-S with his career capped by his selection as All-SKY Conference punter. In school, Foster participates in SkillsUSA and away from school, the senior enjoys hunting and fishing. Foster is also a member of the Patriot baseball team. Following graduation, Foster plans on attending SKYCTC and enter the welding maintenance field. Foster’s parents are Chadd and Joni Foster and Karen Foster. 

   Alyson Miller is a five-year player for the Lady Patriot golf program. The freshman golfer continued to lower her scores and help the AC-S golf team make strides on the course. Miller received the Most Improved Player Award in 2016 and 2017. Away from golf, Miller is active in Beta, Future Farmers of America, FCA, Pep Club, a Principal’s List selection, and was a homecoming candidate last fall. Away from school, Miller is a member of White Plains Baptist Church and enjoys fishing and spending time with family and friends. Her parents are Billy Joe and Cheryl Miller. Miller is undecided on her future plans.

   Brett Rippy just completed his fourth year playing golf for the Patriots. Since discovering the sport in high school, Rippy has solidified the Patriot team, lowering his scores each year, and helping the team improve. Rippy is active in Pep Club and a member of the Patriot basketball and baseball teams. He enjoys playing golf and spending times with family and friends. Brett is the son of Jeff and Carol Rippy. Rippy plans on attending college following graduation.

   Austin Woods was a four-year member of the Patriot football team. This season, Woods earned an All-SKY Conference Offensive Lineman Award while helping the Patriots post a 6-5 record. The son of Terry and Wendy Woods is also active in SkillsUSA and participates in track and field. His hobbies include making memories with friends. Woods’ future plans are to attend WKU and major in Special Education.
