The Allen County-Scottsville High School athletic department has selected Kaylee Baldwin (volleyball), Caitlyn Sloan (cheerleading), Owen Stamper (golf), and Kelly Weger (football) as the August Student-Athletes of the Month.
Kaylee Baldwin
has competed in volleyball for six years. The senior helped the Lady Patriots
to a 16-7 record last year and the school’s first District 15 championship.
Baldwin was named to the 2017 District 15 All-Tournament Team and the 2017
Region 4 All-Tournament Team. This season, Baldwin has helped guide the Lady
Patriots to an 11-5 record to start the season. In August, Baldwin helped AC-S
post wins over Franklin-Simpson, Edmonson County, Owensboro, Warren Central,
Monroe County, Barren County, Metcalfe County, Glasgow, and Red Boiling Springs
(TN).
Away from the court, Baldwin is a member of
the Pep Club, the Beta Club, and DECA. Her hobbies include playing volleyball
and going to the lake. Baldwin plans on attending Western Kentucky University
following graduation and pursue a nursing career. She is the daughter of Amy
and Troy Baldwin.
Caitlyn
Sloan has cheered at the varsity level for five years and currently serves
as a co-captain of the squad. Last season, Sloan helped AC-S place second in
the Region 4 competitive cheer championships (small division). Sloan also
helped the AC-S cheer squad finish sixth at the UCA Nationals last February in
Florida. The senior is also an All-American UCA cheerleader.
In addition to high school cheerleading,
Sloan has played tennis for three years. She is active in the Pep Club, Beta
Club, and DECA. Her hobbies include reading. Sloan’s future plans are to attend
college and seek an accounting degree. Sloan is the daughter of Amy and Brandon
Sloan.
Owen Stamper
is in his ninth year of playing golf with the Patriot program. Last year,
Stamper qualified for the Leachman
Buick GMC Cadillac/Kentucky High School Athletic Association state golf
tournament and advanced to the second day of competition. Stamper finished with
a two-day score of 158 (+14). This year, Stamper has started his junior year
strong. Through August, Stamper has placed first in 18-hole tournaments in
London, Tompkinsville, and Franklin. Stamper is holding an 18-hole scoring
averaging of 75.2 and a nine-hole average of 34.
Stamper is involved
in Pep Club, Beta Club, Future Farmers of America, and the Fellowship of
Christian Athletes. Away from school, Stamper also participates in baseball and
basketball at AC-SH. The junior is the son of Scott and Tasha Stamper. His
future plans are undecided.
Kelly Weger
is a four-year member of the Patriot football team. The senior tailback has
started the season with strong efforts in AC-S wins over Adair County, Barren
County, and Greenwood. Through three games, Weger has rushed for 350 yards on
42 carries and scored six rushing touchdowns. Weger has also passed for 89
yards and a touchdown. Against Adair County to open the season, Weger was named
as the Offensive Player of the Game for the Patriots. In the game against
Greenwood, Weger rushed for a career-high 186 yards.
Away from football,
Weger enjoys lifting weights, kayaking, and fishing. The senior is also a
member of the AC-S track team. He is the son of David Weger. His future plans
are to attend Western Kentucky University.
