The Allen County-Scottsville High School
Patriot Band will march back into competition Saturday at the Nelson County
Invitational in Bardstown.
Two weeks after first-in-class and Reserve
Grand Champion honors at the South-Central Kentucky Marching Band Festival in
Glasgow, the Patriot Band is slated to participate in the 12-band competition
Saturday at Nelson County High School. The contest line-up included Class A
bands Bardstown, Thomas Nelson, and Green County. In Class 2A, AC-S will be
joined by Marion County, Washington County, and North Laurel. Tates Creek
(Class 3A) and Class 4A bands Anderson County, Butler County, Paul Lawrence Dunbar,
and Bullitt East complete the field.
AC-S is slated to take the field at 11:45 am
(CDT) Saturday in the preliminary round of the day-long competition. The top
eight bands from the first round will advance to the finals scheduled to begin
at 5:30. The awards will be announced at 8 Saturday evening.
In their first festival of the season, AC-S
scored a 61.6 in the competition. Last
Saturday, the Patriot Band hosted 15 schools from across Kentucky at the
Patriot Marching Invitational. AC-S performed in exhibition but was not
eligible for honors in the competition. Owensboro High School scored a 71 to
earn Grand Champion honors while Pulaski Southwestern was named Reserve Grand
Champion.
Admission
will be $10 per person at this week’s festival. The AC-S band will also perform
Friday night in pre-game prior to the Allen County-Scottsville vs. Grayson
County Homecoming football game.
