The Allen County-Scottsville Patriots and
the Pulaski County Maroons will meet Friday at 7 p.m. at Blue Raider Stadium in
Columbia
AC-S (3-1) comes into the game looking to
bounce back from a 28-7 loss last Friday at Glasgow. The Patriots were held to
248 yards (200 rushing, 48 passing) by a solid Glasgow squad.
Pulaski County (2-2) comes into Friday’s
matchup after downing Danville 30-14. The Maroons also have a win over
Clarksville Northwest (48-39) but have suffered setbacks to Wayne County
(34-25) and Corbin (47-20).
The Patriots are led by senior tailback
Kelly Weger. Last week, Weger carried the ball 23 times for 90 yards. For the season,
Weger has gained 440 yards and averages over six yards per carry. Last week, sophomore
Patriot quarterback trace McIntyre completed five of six passes for 48 yards
and scored AC-S’s lone touchdown, a one-yard run late in the game.
The Maroons are a pass-oriented team led by
senior signal-caller Wiley Cain. Against Danville, Cain passed for 331 yards to
increase his season total to 1,185 yards. Cain has thrown 10 touchdowns.
Pulaski County has three receivers who have amassed over 200 yards in
receptions through the first four games.
The teams are meeting for the second
consecutive season at Blue Raider Stadium. Last year, the Maroons downed the Patriots
36-20 in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. AC-S will be considered
the home team with Patriot season tickets and student passes honored at the
gate.
