Students
from the Junior Beta chapters at the Allen County Intermediate Center and the
James E. Bazzell Middle School earned Top 10 honors last weekend at the
National Junior Beta Convention in Oklahoma City.
Representing
the Intermediate Center, Nila Nichols placed seventh
in Elementary Fiber Arts and Cole Jackson was sixth in Junior Creative Writing
(based on his response to the topic question What Would You Do If You Woke Up in
Another Country?).
From the Bazzell Middle
School, the Book Battle team of Aidan Davis, Embry Pierce, and Tristan Fields
were 10th, marking the second consecutive year the trio placed in the top-10 at
Nationals. The portfolio---presented by Sarah Beth Wright---earned sixth place
honors. The school’s Junior Beta Engineering team finished ninth at the Nationals.
The team includes Tucker Scott, Trace Pennick, Mattea Cromer, Eliza Hawkins,
and Karsyn Ashby. Also competing was Aidan Davis in Language Arts and Bayleigh
Hopkins presented the Service Learning Showcase.
