The Allen County-Scottsville Patriot golf team recorded a historic 18-holes of golf last Saturday in the 18-hole Henry Clay Invitational at the Lakewood Golf Course in Lexington. Players Owen Stamper, Peyton Cline, Bryson Bonds, Tyler Ford, and Rafe Blankenship combined to shot a team score of 302---a score that not only left the Patriots third in the field but also in the records books for Patriot golf.

“That team score is the lowest team score we have ever had while I’ve been coaching,” explained Scott Stamper, now in his 15th season as the boys’ golf coach.

The final score was made possible after each member of the Patriot team posted an 18-hole round of 77 or below. Senior Owen Stamper led the way with a 74. Junior Peyton Cline carded a 75, followed by a 76 from senior Bryson Bonds. Junior Tyler Ford and freshman Rafe Blankenship shot rounds of 77. The top four scores are counted in team competition leaving AC-S with a team round of 302.

AC-S returns to the course on Thursday as the Patriot golfers host Greenwood at the Scottsville Country Club. Saturday, the team travels to Danville to play in the Battle of the Bridge tournament. Monday, AC-S’s girls and boys are slated to host Monroe County. Home matches began around 4:30 at the Scottsville Country Club.
