Behind a combined 47 points from seniors Sarah Sutton and Mason Towery, the Lady Patriots downed the Lady Rebels 63-35. In the nightcap, a 17-point night from Brett Rippy and a 14-point effort from Owen Stamper enabled the Patriots to defeat the Rebels 62-50.

Led by the tandem of Sutton and Towery, the Lady Patriots raced to a 24-14 lead after the first quarter. AC-S followed with an 18-1 second frame to all but seal the team’s 20th win of the year. The hosts outscored the Lady Rebels 18-15 in the third before Todd Central won the running-clock shortened fourth quarter 5-3.

The 20-win mark is also the 20th time in the 45-year history of the program that a Lady Patriot basketball team will finish the season with 20 or more wins.

AC-S starts the post season on Tuesday, February 19, against Barren County (26-4) in the District 15 tournament semifinals at Monroe County High School.

The Patriots secured their 22nd win of the year with solid shooting and balanced scoring from the start. Sinking eight of their first 12 shots, AC-S outscored Todd Central 18-14 in the opening frame behind baskets from Rippy, Stamper, Chase Ward, Mason Shirley, and Michael Smith. The pace slowed in the second quarter. The Patriots opened a 10-point lead on a Ward bucket at the 3:20 following an entry pass from Rippy. At halftime, AC-S led 26-18.

The Rebels closed to within five early in the third before a 3-point shot from Shirley pushed the lead to eight for the Patriots. Later in the period, a three-point play from Stamper inside and a 3-point shot by the junior forward enabled AC-S to stretch their lead to 13 with 1:07 left in the quarter. A pair of Rippy baskets to close the third lifted AC-S to a 47-33 lead.  Buckets from Stamper and sophomore Tyler Ford, and a 3-pointer from Shirley lifted the Patriots to an 18-point lead midway through the final quarter. Todd Central closed the game on an 11-5 run.
