Four Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot
and Patriot players have been named to the Region 4 All-Season Teams as
selected by Region 4 girl and boy basketball coaches. In addition, Patriot
coach Brad Bonds has been named as boys Region 4 Coach-of-the-Year.
Senior Sarah Sutton was named as the Region
4 Player-of-the-Year to top the list of All-Region First Team selections.
Joining Sutton on the First Team girls’ list is senior Mason Towery. Sutton is
averaging 22.5 points and 10.9 rebounds per game while Towery averages 13.9
points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. The pair have help guide the
Lady Patriots to an 18-6 record with one week left in the regular season.
Senior Brett Rippy earned First Team All
–Region selection while sophomore Mason Shirley was named to the All-Region
Third Team. Rippy carries averages of 17.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.9
assists per game. Shirley averages 15.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists
per game.
Bonds took the reins of the AC-S boys
program this season after 11 years as the coach of the Lady Patriots. Bonds has
guided the Patriots to a 20-6 record---the program’s first winning season since
2010 and their first 20-win season in 10 years. The honor marks the fourth time
in the past seven seasons that Bonds has been named as Coach-of-the- Year in
Region 4, having earned selection in girls basketball in 2013, 2014, and 2016.
Additional Region 4 girls First Team
selections and their schools include Natalie Pierce (South Warren), T’Alla
Brown (Bowling Green) and Elizabeth Bertram (Barren County). All-Region Second
Team selections are Jacqueline Jackson (Greenwood), Bailey Pedigo (Barren
County), Ashanti Gore (Glasgow), Paige Vanzant (Logan County), and Anzley
Adwell (Glasgow). Third Team selection include Kaylee Harbison (Metcalfe
County), Keyozdon Jones (Bowling Green), Lucy Patterson (Warren East), Taylor
Ragland (Bowling Green), and Addison Loy (Russell County). Coach Josh Hurt
(Metcalfe County) was named as the Region 4 Girls Coach of the Year.
The Region 4 boys Region 4 Player-of-the-Year
is Jackson Harlan (Clinton County). Additional First Team members are Chandler
Clements (Monroe County), Isaiah Mason (Bowling Green) and Nick Sorrell
(Glasgow). Second Team members include Jacob Naylor (Russellville), Jack
Roberts (Greenwood), Tyler Martin (South Warren), Jon Calvary (Todd County
Central), and Dre Boyd (Warren Central). Third Team selections also include
Kobe Brents (Warren Central), Will Bandy (Barren County), Ben Carroll
(Greenwood), and DeMarco Chatman (Franklin-Simpson).
The players and coaches will receive their
awards in special presentations following the Region 4 championship games. The
boys regional title contest will be played on Saturday, March 2 while the girls
championship game will be Tuesday, March 5. Both boys and girls championship
games will be played at Western Kentucky University.
