Monroe County and Barren County will be the opponents next week for Allen County-Scottsville as the Patriots and Lady Patriots open play in the elimination games of the 2019 District 15 basketball tournament at Monroe County High School in Tompkinsville.

In boys action Monday, February 18, two-seed AC-S (22-7, 4-2) will face three-seed Monroe County (11-14, 3-3) in the nightcap of the opening round double-header. One-seed Glasgow (19-10, 4-2)—-the top seed by virtue of a draw last Wednesday at the tournament’s coaches meeting—is pitted against four-seed Barren County (15-14, 1-5) in the 6 p.m. opening game.

Glasgow has a pair of wins over Barren County this year, the second being a two-point win in January. ACS defeated Barren County twice—-including a two-point victory in December. The Patriots split games with Glasgow, winning by three and losing by 21, and Monroe County, a win at Monroe County but a two-point setback at home on February 1. The host Falcons own district wins over ACS, Barren County, and Glasgow by a combined seven points. Barren County’s lone district win was over Monroe County.

The winners advance to the District 15 championship game slated for 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 21. Both winner and runner-up advance to the Region 4 tournament which will begin on Sunday, February 24 at Western Kentucky University.

   The ladies open play on Tuesday, February 19. Three-seed AC-S (20-6, 3-3) will battle two-seed Barren County (26-4, 4-2) at 7:45 p.m. in the nightcap. One-seed Glasgow (19-8, 5-1) faces four-seed Monroe County (5-18, 0-6) at 6 p.m. to start the girls tournament.

AC-S split their games with Barren County, defeated Monroe County twice, and lost twice to Glasgow. The Lady Scotties downed Monroe County in both regular season games and split games with the Trojanettes. Barren’s two losses combined with the Lady Patriots’ 3-3 record locked the Trojanettes into the two-seed.

The girls championship contest tips at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 22. Both teams advance to the Region 4 tournament which opens on Tuesday, February 26 at WKU.

Admission to each night of the District tournament will be $5 per person. The gates will open by 4:45 each day. Wednesday, February 20 will be used as a make-up night if games Monday or Tuesday had to be canceled due to weather issues.
