The Allen County-Scottsville High School Patriot Band will be in competition this weekend in Russellville. The marching band will be one of 16 bands taking part in the Logan County Festival of Bands on Saturday, September 21, at Logan County High School.
The field includes Class A bands Edmonson County, Union County, Hancock
County, Owensboro Catholic, and Lyon County. Class 2A bands competing include
Dawson Springs, Hart County, Caldwell County, Paducah Tilghman, and Russellville.
The Class 3A field featured John Hardin, Boyle County, Franklin-Simpson, AC-S,
Breckinridge County, and Butler County.
The opening ceremonies will be at 3:45 p.m. with the first band
performing at 4 at Cougar Stadium. AC-S is slated to compete at 8:15. The
awards program will start at 9:15.
The AC-S band will return to participation this week after hosting the
Patriot Marching Invitational last weekend. As protocol dictates, the band did
not compete however did perform in exhibition last Saturday. In the
competition, Glasgow was named as the Grand Champion with Owensboro selected as
Reserve Grand Champion. Glasgow also received the award for Best Music, Owensboro
took Best Percussion honors, and Corbin took the Best Guard and Best Visual awards.
