The Allen County-Scottsville volleyball team improved to 2-0 in District play with a 2-0 win last Thursday night at Patriot Gym.

In the opening set, kills from C.J. Towe and Chloe Cook, an ace from Meg Foster, and a net wiener from Maddie Stallings helped the hosts open a 10-3 lead. Barren County closed to within five points, 14-9, midway through the match before AC-S pulled away. Winners from Cook and Ava Walker, kills by Towe and Stallings, and three aces from Foster enabled the Lady Patriots to win the set 25-12.

The story was much the same in the second. AC-S raced to a 7-1 lead with the Trojanettes closing to within five, 11-6. However, a strong presence at the net defensively coupled with kills from Cook and Bre Varner, and strong serving led to AC-S putting together a 14-7 run to win the set 25-13.

AC-S (5-5) will have a tough weekend on tap. The team travels to Campbellsville Friday to play in the Taylor County Smack Down Tournament. The two-day event features pool plays games Friday before bracket matches on Saturday. AC-S is also scheduled to host Franklin-Simpson Monday.
