Student-Athletes of Month Announced

August

Olivia Brown (volleyball), Tyler Ford (golf), Jordan Madden (football) and Abby Rather (cheerleading) have been selected as August Student Athletes of the Month at Allen County-Scottsville High School.

Olivia Brown has played volleyball for six years at both the club and school level. Emerging as the Lady Patriots’ libero---the rearmost roaming defensive player on the volleyball court---Brown is considered the team’s defensive specialist. Last season, Brown was selected to the District 15 All-Tournament Team after helping AC-S claim a second consecutive District championship. This year, Brown has helped AC-S to five wins and a 2-0 record in District play.

Away from the court, Brown is active in the Pep Club, Beta Club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). The senior will attend Western Kentucky University or the University of Kentucky but is undecided on her academic pursuit. Brown is the daughter of Eli and Courtney Brown.

Tyler Ford has been a member of the Patriot golf team for several seasons. The junior’s game continues to develop, evident by his dropping scores in recent events. During August, Ford’s lowest nine-hole score was a 39 on two occasions with his lowest 18-hole score being a 77 on the way to a top-10 finish at the Wildcat Invitational on August 24.

In addition to golf, Ford plays basketball and baseball for the Patriots. His school activities include participation in DECA, Pep Club, and the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Ford’s future plans are to attend a college in Florida and major in Business Management. He is the son of Josh and Cara Ford.

Jordan Madden has played football for eight years overall. The 6’2”, 245 lb. senior lineman continues to improve his game on both sides of the pigskin. This year, Madden has been asked to provide veteran leadership to the youthful Patriot team.

Away from the field, Madden spends time with family and friends. His future plans are to attend Lindsey Wilson College but is undecided on a program of study. Madden is the son of Chris Madden and Nickie Madden.

Abby Rather has cheered for AC-S for two years. The junior is helping the Patriot cheer team develop their competition routine as well as improve their sideline cheer routines.

Rather is extremely involved in clubs and activities. She is a member of DECA, Pep Club, Beta Club, Spanish Club, FBLA, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), and KYA (Kentucky Youth Assembly). Rather’s hobbies include singing, playing the piano, and going to the lake. Her future plans are to attend WKU and pursue a degree in speech pathology.

The student-athletes were nominated by their respective sport coaches for the monthly honor.
