The
Allen County-Scottsville High School football program capped the 2017 season
with the annual awards banquet Sunday afternoon at the Patriot Athletic Complex
on the campus of Allen County-Scottsville High School.
Award winners included seniors Chase Wilson and Aaron Borth sharing the team’s Most Valuable Player Award.
Wilson completed 156 of 275 passes for 2,667 yards and 32 touchdowns. Wilson averaged 242 yards passing per game. Borth led the team in tackles with 108, including 80 solo tackles. Borth also intercepted three passes and had 100 yards in return yards. Wilson also received the Offensive Player of the Year Award and the Offensive Back Award.
Steven Whitney was named as the Defensive
Player of the Year and received the Defensive Line Award. Whitney recorded 105
tackles including 81 solo tackles. Brock Meador took home the Linebacker Award
to cap a season in which he recorded 78 total tackles. Carson Taylor receiving
the Defensive Back Award. Taylor had 78 total tackles and three interceptions.
Additional award winners included Matthew
West (Offensive Line Award) and Jacob Lightfoot (Receiving Award). West helped
anchor an offensive line that allowed the Patriots to rush for 1,781 yards and
pass for 2,694 yards. Lighfoot caught 56 passes for 1,273 yards and 15
touchdowns.
Derik
Vargas received the Most Improved Player Award, Sheldon Peay earned the Special
Teams Award, and Warren Bray was presented with the For the Love of the Game
Award. Cayden Ross received the Offensive Coaches Award, due in part to his 48
catches for 747 yards. Ethan Givens received the Defensive Coaches Award after
a season of 72 tackles.
Captains Awards were presented to Wilson,
Meador, Taylor, and Wilson.
The Patriots closed the 2017 season with a
7-4 record.
