The
Allen County-Scottsville High School basketball teams split Tuesday games at
Logan County. The Lady Patriots downed the Lady Cougars 59-36 with the Patriots
dropping a 52-50 decision to the Cougars.
Lady Patriot junior Sarah Sutton recorded a
career-high 28 points, grabbed four rebounds, and had two steals to lead the
way for AC-S. Teammate Mason Towery notched 13 points and dished out a
career-high seven assists. Senior Sydney Day scored seven points with senior
Bailee Alderson adding six points and leading the team with a season-high seven
rebounds.
AC-S led 16-7 at the end of the first
quarter and 39-13 at halftime. A 17-9 third period pushed the Lady Patriots to
a commanding 56-22 lead with the Lady Patriots going on to record their ninth
win of the season.
For the game, AC-S shot 56.8% from the
field, making 25 of 44 shots. At the foul line, the Lady Patriots were six of
12 (50%). Logan County went 13-36 from the floor (36.1%) and eight of 14 (57.1%)
at the foul line. The Lady Patriots grabbed 29 rebounds, turned the ball over
13 times, and handing out 18 assists. Logan County (10-6) finished with 20
rebounds and 15 turnovers.
The Patriots dropped their 11th game of the
year despite a 20-point, four rebound effort from junior Brett Rippy. Senior
Marcus Carter recorded the sixth double-double of his career with 12 points and
15 rebounds, matching his personal-best rebounding total.
Logan County (7-8) led 14-9 after the first
quarter. The Cougars built a 12-point lead, 24-12, before a 10-4 Patriot run
pulled AC-S to within six at the half. The Patriots trailed 35-34 after three
but followed with a 6-0 run early in the fourth to take a 40-35 lead. Logan
County ended the night with a 17-10 run to post the win.
The Cougars were 19-51 from the floor
(37.3%) and eight of 12 (66.7%) at the line. The Patriots made 20-42 field
goals for a 47.6% clip and went nine of 16 (56.3%) at the free throw stripe.
AC-S out rebounded Logan County, 34-29. The Patriots turned the ball over 13
times and recorded 10 assists.
AC-S is scheduled to return to the court
Friday night in District 15 action at Glasgow. The Patriots (6-11, 0-3) will
face the Scotties (13-3, 2-1) at 6 p.m. followed by the Lady Patriots (9-9,
1-2) and the Lady Scotties (11-4, 2-1).
