ACSH Seniors Receive Over $1.3 Million in Awards


   Allen County-Scottsville High School seniors were recognized for their years of academic work Tuesday, May 6 during the annual Awards Night activities. School, community and college representatives presented awards and scholarships totaling approximately $1.3 million to help the students continue their education.

   Community award winners and honorees included Catherine Taylor and Katie Young---the Active Consortium Scholarship ($1,000), Jacob Vernon---the Allen County Conservation District scholarship ($1,000), and Katelyn Clark---the Allen County Homemakers Scholarship ($500).

   The local American Private Enterprise System (APES) program handed out $2,100 in awards. Danielle Caldwell, Brooklyn Meador, Courtney Moon, Cameron Pilgrim, Jacob Stewart, Caleb Vernon and Jared Walden received $200 awards and Jordan Keen received a $400 award. Titus Carter, Cameron Pilgrim and Jared Walden also received $100 for serving as junior leaders. Titus Carter was recognized as a Kentucky Youth Scholar with senior state APES and Cameron Pilgrim earned an $800 award for participation in the Kentucky Youth Seminar.

   Additional community awards honorees were Jared Walden---Alliance Corporation Scholarship ($500), Shea Tomes---Bowling Green Fire Fighters Association Scholarship ($500), Nathan Berry and B.J. Towe---Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scouts, Caleb Vernon---Elizabeth Turner Campbell scholarship ($5,000), Dustin Bridgeman, Kathrine Ditmore, and Katie Young---Allen County Cattleman’s Association ($500), Katelyn Woodmansee----DAR Good Citizen award, Imari Hammock---DECA Scholarship ($300), and Camrin Bennett, Kathrine Ditmore, Brooklyn Meador and Katelyn Woodmansee---Distinguished Young Woman Program awards.

   Other community-based scholarships and award winners were Jared Walden---Kentucky Farm Bureau Scholarship ($1,000), Kathrine Ditmore---Allen County Farm Bureau ($1,000) and Jacob Vernon---Ralston Bewley Allen County Farm Bureau award ($500). Lilli Berry received the Farmers National Bank Award of Excellence Scholarship ($1,000) and the Sara Beth Fitzpatrick Memorial Scholarship presented by Wooten Insurance. Katie Young received the Future Business Leaders Digital Design award, while Rachel Carter and Jared Walden earned Gary Force Toyota Athlete of the Month awards ($500). Katelyn Clark was presented with the Fraternal Order of Police Scholarship (500).

   Brooklyn Meador, Jared Walden and Madison Williams were recognized as 2013 Governors Scholars, Ali Skaggs received the Morris L. Grubbs Business Scholarship ($500) and Heather Stephens was presented the Hagan Scholarship ($40,000). Other scholarship community winners included Lilli Berry---Marilyn Keen Memorial Scholarship ($250), B.J. Towe---Kentucky Auctioneering Scholarship, Heather Stephens---The Medical Center at Scottsville Scholarship---and Katie Young---National Center for Women and Information Technology award.

   Additional community winners were Erica Pitchford---Allie Parker Newman Scholarship ($1,000), Caleb Vernon---James G. Norman Drafting Scholarship ($250), Charity Caldwell---the North Central Telephone Cooperative Will Hall Sullivan Scholarship ($1,000), Katelyn Clark---Norton Healthcare Scholarship ($1,000), Danielle Caldwell---Peyton’s Mid-South Inc. Logistics Dept. Scholarship ($1,000), Evan Day---the Bob Pitchford Memorial Scholarship ($500), Imari Hammock---Rafferty’s Bowl Queen ($500), and Jon-Paul Oliver, Ali Skaggs and Jared Walden---Rotary Scholarships ($1,000 per year renewable).

   Holly Riggs received the Hannah Crow Ryan Memorial Scholarship ($1,000), Shayna Cockrill earned the Scottsville High School Alumni Pointers for the Future Scholarship ($250 for three years), Camrin Bennett received the Scottsville Women’s Club Scholarship ($1,000), Titus Carter was awarded the Gary Shelton Memorial Scholarship ($500), Katie Young received the South Central Bank-Halton Classic Academic Scholarship ($500), and Madison Williams was presented with the Lisa Simmons Technology Scholarship ($350). Efrain Fonseca, Imari Hammock, Cameron Pilgrim, and Heather Stephens received Sponsors Scholarships ($2,500 renewable for four years), and Ethan Calvert was presented the Elizabeth Stone Scholarship ($1,000).

   The United States Marine Corp presented Scholastic Excellence awards to Titus Carter and Brooklyn Meador, Distinguished Athlete awards to Jared Walden and Erica Pitchford and Semper Fidelis awards to Jon-Paul Oliver and Katelyn Woodmansee.

   Additional community awards included Evan Day and Katie Young---the Wendy’s Heisman, and Titus Carter---a Woodman of the World award. Jessica Baker, Lilli Berry, Nathan Berry, Ethan Calvert, Nat Carter, Titus Carter, Katelyn Clark, Evan Day, Dakota Funnell, Imari Hammock, Kelli Jackson, Kayla King, Bradley McGuffey, Krysta Mitchell, Rebecca Moser, Olivia Obermyer, Dylan Pennington, Cameron Pilgrim, Erica Pitchford, Adriana Polanco-Vasquez, Jordan Railey, Rusty Rockrohr, Avery Shorts, Ali Skaggs, Heather Stephens, Caleb Stinson, Bobbie Jo Tabor, Carlie Taylor, Catherine Taylor, Shea Tomes, B.J. Towe, Jacob Vernon, Jared Walden, Madison Williams, Jacob Willoughby, Katelyn Woodmansee, and Katie Young received Work Ethic Seal Program participant awards. Work Ethic Seal Scholarship winners were Lilli Berry (South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College), Krysta Mitchell (Western Kentucky University) and Ethan Calvert (Lindsey Wilson College).

   Multiple students were recognized for earning college scholarships. Evan Day, Cameron Pilgrim and Jacob Stewart received four year $25,000 per year renewable scholarships to Berea College. Courtney Cooper and Courtney Moon were awarded four year renewable $22,000 per year scholarships to Campbellsville University and Rachel Carter received a four year renewable scholarship for golf ($9,000) and merit ($10,500) to Campbellsville. Katie Young received a four year renewable athletic scholarship to Georgetown College. Ethan Calvert earned a four year renewable $12,000 per year scholarship to Lindsey Wilson College with Shayna Cockrill also receiving a four year renewable $18,000 per year athletic and academic scholarship to Lindsey Wilson.

   Seniors Danielle Caldwell, Kathrine Ditmore and Brooklyn Meador will be attending Murray State University on scholarships. Cardwell received a renewable Murray State University Provost scholarship ($3,000 per year), the Mabel Garrett Pullen Ag scholarship ($500 per year), a Leadership Housing scholarship ($500) and a Presidential Fellowship Participation renewable scholarship ($500). Ditmore also received a renewable Murray State University Provost scholarship ($3,000 per year) and the Mabel Garrett Pullen Ag scholarship ($500 per year renewable). Meador will attend Murray on a Governor’s Scholar renewable scholarship ($7,000 per year).

   South Central Kentucky Community and Technical College Presidential Scholarship winners ($5,000) were Dakota Funnell, Olivia Oberymer, and Caleb Vernon. Catherine Taylor earned a University of Kentucky renewable scholarship ($1,500 per year) and Hayden Fugate received a full tuition renewable scholarship to the University of Louisville ($9,500 per year).

   Western Kentucky University scholarships were awarded to Camrin Bennett---a Regents Tuition Scholarship ($9,000 per year renewable), Charity Caldwell---The Spirit Makes the Master scholarship ($2,500 per year renewable), Titus Carter---a Regents Tuition scholarship ($9,000 per year renewable) and the Teresa Jackson Mayhew scholarship ($175), Arthur Carver---the Laura Goad Turner Fine Arts Scholarship ($2,000), Katelyn Clark---the Red Towel scholarship ($1,500 per year renewable) and a Service First scholarship ($5,000), Efrain Fonseca---the Raymond Simmons Agriculture scholarship ($300), Imari Hammock---Minority Scholarship Tuition scholarship ($9,000 per year renewable), Jordan Keen---The Spirit Makes the Master scholarship ($2,500 per year renewable) and the Delbert and Willie Oliphant Terrell scholarship ($4,000), Dylan Mast---a Regents Tuition scholarship ($9,000 per year renewable), Tanner Mutter---the Mary and Jack Fraim scholarship ($700), Erica Pitchford---the Delbert and Willie Oliphant Terrell scholarship ($4,000), Jordan Roark---Laura Goad Turner Fine Arts scholarship ($2,000), Ali Skaggs---the Yvonne Reynolds scholarship ($750), Heather Stephens (the Red Towel scholarship ($1,500 per year renewable), Carlie Taylor---Laura Goad Turner Fine Arts scholarship ($1,000) and a Joyce Daugherty scholarship ($300), Shea Tomes---Spirit Makes the Master scholarship ($2,500 per year renewable), Jake Vernon---The Spirit Makes the Master scholarship ($2,500 per year renewable) and Service First scholarship ($5,000), Jared Walden---a Regents Tuition Scholarship ($9,000 per year renewable) and Madison Williams---a Governors Scholars Tuition scholarship ($9,000 per year renewable).

   Dustin Brown and Christopher Pendley earned the right to a full tuition scholarship from the US Army National Guard while Riley Chappell earned a full tuition scholarship from the US Marines. Blake Charlton and Zach Wilson earned full tuition scholarships from the US Army and Jennifer Dear, Marcos Gonzales, and Jessie James earned full tuition scholarships from the US Air Force.

   Lilli Berry, Kelli Jackson, Kyle Mansfield, Courtney Mood, Jon-Paul Oliver, Shavani Patel, Jordan Railey, Kolton Simmons, Caleb Stinson, and Austin Varner received one-time Homer C. Cherry scholarships in the amount of $1,000.

   The award ceremony also included the recognition of senior Beta Club members Camrin Bennett, Lilli Berry, Rachel Carter, Titus Carter, Katelyn Clark, Hayden Fugate, Imari Hammock, Kayla King, Brooklyn Meador, Jon-Paul Oliver, Shivani Patel, Erica Pitchford, Ali Skaggs, Carlie Taylor, Catherine Taylor, Caleb Vernon, Jared Walden, Summer Wilkins and Madison Williams. The students received their gold cords to be worn at graduation on June 6.
