State Science Olympiad Saturday


   Four Science Olympiad teams representing the Allen County School District will be at Western Kentucky University Saturday, April 12 for the Kentucky Science Olympiad State Tournament.

   The James E. Bazzell Middle School will be sending two Science Olympiad teams to state based on last month’s results in regional competition. The school’s eighth grade team took first place honors at the Kentucky Middle School Science Olympiad regional competition at Madisonville Community College while the school’s seventh grade finished second.

   Bazzell Science Olympiad red team members are Dawson Birge, Aaron Borth, Dana Cole, Annika Dear-Williams, Olivia Hawkins, Haley Helmes, Zach Jackson, Isabella Jones, Abby Keen, Faith Murley, Hayden Petty, Tyler Petty, Bekah Quinohez, and Lauren Riffe.

   Members of the middle school’s blue team include Colton Barton, Katelyn Bewley, Rachel Bomar, Hadley Celsor, Jerica Eaton, Rachel Foster, Harris Gregory, Tyler Hunt, Ethan Miller, Jackson Montgomery, Timmy Saylors, Tristan Skipworth, Daniel Stephens, Jason Sykes, and Madison Whittle.

   The Allen County-Scottsville High School Science Olympiad varsity team continued dominance of the Kentucky Science Olympiad west regional competition. The high school team took top honors for a ninth consecutive year in the regional at Madisonville. The high school’s junior varsity squad also placed third in the competition to also advance.

​    AC-SH Science Olympiad varsity and junior varsity team members include Nate Anderson, Sam Anderson, Josh Bomar, Isaiah Burciaga, Austin Byrn, Jack Byrn, Titus Carter, Preston Clarke, Hayden Fugate, Carter Gross, Jacob Gross, Logan Hardcastle, Lucas Harrison, Keith Jones, Maddie Jones, John Kello, Zach Logsdon, Brooklyn Meador, Logan Mitchell, Daniel Monterrosas, Whitney Perry, Cory Radcliff, Savannah Ranney, Austen Riffe, Samantha Schrock, Ralston Shipley, Dale Shivers, Shelby Taylor, Quinn Towery, Jared Walden and Katelyn Willingham.

   This year’s Kentucky Science Olympiad state tournament will begin Saturday morning at Western Kentucky University. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 5 Saturday afternoon at the Downing Student Union Auditorium at WKU.
