The Allen County-Scottsville Patriot golf team concluded their season with a fourth place finish in the Region 3 golf tournament Tuesday (October 1) at the Hidden Hills Country Club in Tompkinsville. The Patriots carded a team score of 322, 18-shots off the top score of 304 posted by Bowling Green High School. Greenwood (311) finished as runner-up while Franklin-Simpson (318) placed third in the 18-team event.

AC-S senior and Middle Tennessee State University commit Owen Stamper finished with a four-over-par round of 76 to lead the Patriots. Stamper opened with an even-par 36 on the front nine before a final nine score of 40. Stamper finished ninth overall in the 96-player field. Still, his 76 was among the top seven scores from players not on the championship team, thus qualifying the senior for the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/Kentucky High School Athletic Association state golf championship next week at the Bowling Green Country Club. This will be Stamper’s third consecutive appearance in the state tournament.

Patriot freshman Rafe Blankenship posted a score of 78. Making his first appearance in the regional tournament, Blankenship carded a 39 on both the front and back nine holes. Junior Tyler Ford finished with a round of 80 in his first taste of regional play. Like Blankenship, Ford shot scores of 40 on both the front and back nine holes. AC-S senior Bryson Bonds struggled and finished with an 88. Junior Peyton Cline also had a long day, finishing with a 90.
