The Allen County-Scottsville Patriot baseball squad used a nine-run inning to overcome a one-run deficit and went on to record a 14-2 six inning win Tuesday afternoon in District 15 action at Monroe County.

After trailing 1-0 and 2-1, the Patriots turned things around in the fourth. One-out walks by Aaron Howell and Hunter Foster loaded the bases. Cayden Ross’s single tied the score. A walk, a single off the bat of Tristan Brooks, two additional base-on-balls, and a pair of Falcon errors lifted AC-S to an 8-2 lead. Foster completed the scoring barrage with a two-RBI double to stake the Patriots to a 10-2 lead. Singles by Ross, Brett Rippy, and a double by Brooks helped the Patriots plate four runs in the top of the sixth.

Brooks went 3-4 at the plate, drove in four, and scored twice in the game. Ross added two hits and scored three runs. Foster, Sheldon Peay, and Marcus Carter also contributed with two RBI afternoons. Overall, AC-S recorded nine hits in the game along with reaching base nine times on walks.

Peay earned the win with five innings of work on the mound. Peay recorded six strikeouts and allowed six hits. The senior pitcher threw 69 pitches in the game with 52 being strikes.

AC-S improved to 3-1 while Monroe County dropped to 1-2. The Patriots are scheduled to travel to Greenwood (4-1) Thursday afternoon, weather permitting.
