Cadets Participate in First Raider of Season

Cadets representing the JROTC program at the Allen County-Scottsville High School participated in the first Raider event of the season last Saturday at Clarkrange High School in Tennessee.

“Fourteen cadets competed in a very challenging and physically demanding all day event,” explained JROTC instructor Col. Rondal Turner. “Events included the one rope bridge, cross country course, gauntlet, fire hose carry, confidence course, tire stacker and the tire flip. Eight males and two females were required in each of the events.”

Out of 20 Tennessee and Kentucky teams, AC-SH placed sixth overall and won a third place trophy for the confidence course event.

“AC-SH placed in the top 10 of schools in all events except the tire flip where two penalties caused them to place 17,” Col. Turner noted. “The tires they were flipping weighed between 400 and 700 pounds. It was a great day and everyone enjoyed the event.”

The Raider cadets travels to Fairview, Tennessee Saturday.
