Band Competes in Glasgow

   The Allen County-Scottsville High School Patriot Band took part in the South-Central Kentucky Marching Band Classic last Saturday at Glasgow High School. The event featured bands from Hart County, Barren County, and Greenwood.

   AC-S placed first in Class 3A and second overall after scoring a 61.6 in the competition. Barren County---a Class 4A band—took top honors with a score of 66.2. Hart County (2A) obtained a score of 56.8 with Greenwood (4A) receiving a 55.7. The Patriots were second overall in guard with a score of 56 and fourth overall in percussion (69).

   This Saturday, AC-S is scheduled to welcome 15 bands from across Kentucky at the Patriot Marching Invitational.

   The afternoon festival will start with performances by four class A1 bands. Lyon County will take the field at 3:45 followed by Edmonson County, Campbellsville, and Cumberland County. Four class A2 bands will follow starting at 4:45---Owensboro Catholic, Hart County, Hopkins County Central, and Warren East. The bands are scheduled to perform at 15-minute intervals.

   Following a break at 5:45, class AA band Nelson County performs at 6 followed by class AAA bands Owensboro, Glasgow, and Breckenridge County. Class AAAA bands from McCracken County, Southwestern, and Butler County will round out the competition. The host Patriot band will perform at 7:45 with the awards program scheduled to start at 8 at the stadium.  

   The Patriot Marching Invitational marks the first time in over 20 years that the high school campus has hosted a regular season band festival.  Admission will be $7 per person.
