Golf Teams Have Busy First Week

   The Allen County-Scottsville Patriot and Lady Patriot golf teams launched their 2019 seasons this weekend with matches in western and central Kentucky.

   The Patriots participated in a pair of 18-hole tournaments. Friday, AC-S placed fifth in a 12-team field at the Best of the West tournament at Lake Barkley State Park. Senior Bryson Bonds carded a 76 to pace his team. Bonds shot a 40 on the opening nine before shooting a 36 on his final nine holes.

   Senior Owen Stamper struggled on his first nine (43) before shooting a 36 to finish with a 79. Freshman Rafe Blankenship posted a 43 on his first nine, followed with a 40 to finish with a round of 83. Junior Peyton Cline shot a 40 on the front nine and closed with a 44 to finish with an 84. Junior Tyler Ford shot an 87 after nine-hold scores of 43 and 44.

   Saturday, the Patriots played at the Pennyrile State Resort Park course in the Dawson Springs Invitational. Stamper paced the Patriots with a 73. Three Patriots were in the 80’s. Bonds posted an 83, Cline shot an 86, and Ford carded an 87. Sophomore Joshua Sikes fired a 93. 

   In Lady Patriot action, sophomore Alyson Miller shot a 101 on the day in play in the Taylor County Invitational at Campbellsville.

   The Patriot golfers were back in action on Monday, August 5 at the Bowling Green Country Club in the Greenwood Gator Invitational.  ACS placed ninth in the field of 22 teams. Stamper finished with a 73, tied for sixth. Other scores included Ford (85), Bonds (87), Cline (87), and McPeak (91).

ACS posted a team score of 315 to place fourth out of 17 teams Tuesday at the Monroe County Invitational. Owen Stamper shot a two-under par round of 70 and finished third individually. Blankenship (80), Ford (82), Bonds (83), Cline (87), McPeak (90) and Sikes (score unavailable).
