ACS Swim Competes in Region 2 Meet
region swimmer      The Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot and Patriot swim team combined to finish sixth Saturday at the Region 2 swim championships at the Owensboro Health Park in Owensboro. Lady Patriots swimmers were fifth among the 17 girls’ squads while the Patriots placed eighth among boys’ team in the field. In addition, three new school records were established in Saturday’s events.

   For the Lady Patriots, the 200-yard medley relay team of Rachel Foster, Leah Hartman, Sarah Hartman, and Rachel Meador placed sixth in the finals with a new school-record time of 2:06.79. The same swimmers placed sixth in the 200y free relay with a time of 1:55.24. The 400y free relay team of Allison Davis, Mattie Tuttle, Sarah Davis, and Meador posted a time of 4:37.17 to finish in sixth place.

   Individually, Sarah Davis swam a school-record time of 1:16.05 to place seventh in the 100y breaststroke. Foster captured a pair of eighth-place finishes. In the 200y freestyle, Foster recorded a time of 2:12.30 and posted a time of 1:07.78 in the 100y backstroke. Leah Hartman earned a 10th place finish in the 100y breaststroke with a time of 1:19.64 and also was 13th in the 200y IM (individual medley) with a time of 2:36.62. Sarah Hartman finished in 11th place in the 100y butterfly (1:13.66) and was 15th in the 100y backstroke (1:13.12). Meador was 13th in the 50y free with a time of 27.80.

   Swimmers Shelby Costello, Ella Rickard, Allison Davis and Sarah Davis competed in Friday’s preliminaries but failed to advance to the second day. Costello posted a time of 1:22.46 in the 100y free and a time of 1:48.67 in the 100y breaststroke. Allison Davis had a time of 1:27.11 in the 100y fly and a time of 1:13.57 in the 100y free. Sarah Davis notched a time of 29.02 in the 50y free. Rickard had a 43.81 in the 50y free and a time of 1:53.71 in the 100y backstroke. 

    For the Patriot swimmers, Tad Koltin Taylor established a second school record in as many days. Yesterday, Taylor posted a new record time in the 200y freestyle. Saturday, Taylor lowered his record time to 1:55.45---finishing fourth in the event. Taylor was also sixth in the 50y free (23.99). Aaron Shain placed 13th in the 200y IM with a time of 2:31.58 while Bradley Wagoner was 15th in the 100y breaststroke (1:21.10).

   Swimmers Wessly Butler and Drew Long took part in individual preliminary events but failed to qualify for Saturday. Butler had a time of 1:17.34 in the 100y breaststroke. Drew Long posted a time of 39.77 in the 50y free and a time of 1:35.63 in the 100y free. Shain had a time of 1:04.35 in the 100y free.

   The Patriot relay team of Shain, Butler, Wagoner, and Taylor finished in ninth place in the 200y free relay (1:50.71) with Butler, Anthony Carranco, Wagoner, and Taylor was ninth in the 400y free (4:20.85). Butler, Wagoner, Shain, and Carranco combined for an 11th place finish in the 200y medley relay with a time of 2:19.30.
