The Allen County-Scottsville High School Patriot band placed first in
class and fourth overall at the South Central Marching Band Classic at Glasgow
High School on Saturday. The first event of the season for AC-S included 11
bands.
AC-S earned a score of 52.95 in the contest to top Class 3A. Overall,
Class 5A Louisville Eastern posted the highest score of the night (71.45) followed
by Class 4A Barren County (65.15) and Class 5A Henderson County (63.80).
The Patriot guard and percussion units also topped their class in the
festival. The guard earned a score of 79---third overall behind Eastern (85)
and Barren County (82). The Patriot percussion unit notched score of 77 to
place fourth overall. Eastern took top honors in percussion with a score of 85.
The Patriot Band and Guard will host the Allen County-Scottsville
Patriot Marching Invitational Saturday, September 14 at Patriot Stadium. The
Mid-States Band Association event features nine bands representing four
classes. Bands include Edmonson County (1A), Warren East (1A), Hopkins County
Central (2A), Corbin (2A), Cumberland County (2A), Glasgow (3A), Southwestern
(3A), Greenwood (4A), and Owensboro (4A).
The competition starts at 5 p.m. when Edmonson County takes the field.
As host, AC-S will not compete but will present their festival show in
exhibition at 7:45. Awards are scheduled for 8 at the football stadium.
The 2019 marching Patriots are under the
field command of drum major Sno Browning and assistant drum major Lucy Britt.
Seniors include Browning, Emma Carver, Katie Davis, Emily Guedea, Abigail Huff,
Jayleigh Minix, Bailey Perdue, and Abby Willoughby. J. Shawn Huff is Director
of bands for Allen County Schools and is assisted by Assistant Director Chelly
Stamps and Assistant Director and Visual Designer Gina Huff.
