Choir Students Named All-State

Allen County Intermediate Center Music Educator Brittany Rust has announced that 18 students from the Intermediate Center have been selected for the Kentucky American Choral Directors Association (KYACDA) All-State choir.

The students include Malliea Copas, Gabby Corbett, Allison Davis, Hailey Davis, Sarah Davis, Anna Gross, Quinn Hartman, Chloe McGuire, Houston Porter, Jadyn Williams, Sarah Beth Wright, Emma Bewley, Tristan Harston, Eliza Hawkins, Yatza Palacios, Kaitlyn Rather, Alex Stamps, and Aidan Stone.

“They are learning their music,” noted Rust. “We will travel to Lexington the first weekend of November, they will work through the music with the rest of the ensemble, and perform on November 4.”

The 18 selections are among the largest from any school in the state and represent a milestone moment for the Intermediate Center choral program.

“Our school had the second largest amount of kids to make it in the entire state of Kentucky,” Rust added. “The largest number from one school was 20, so we were close. This is easily the largest number of kids to attend an All-State event from Allen County in the last 15 years. It's definitely the largest number of All-State kids to ever come out of Allen County Intermediate Center.”

The students will join their fifth and sixth grade All-State counterparts from across the state for rehearsals on Friday, November 3 in Lexington. The all-state choir will perform Saturday, November 4 at 12 p.m. (EDT) at the Singletary Center for Fine Arts on the campus of the University of Kentucky.
