Stamper Among Top Four at Scottie Invitational

Allen County-Scottsville sophomore Owen Stamper shot a 74 Saturday to finish tied for third at the Scottie Invitational at the Glasgow Country Club. Stamper’s round helped lead AC-S to a sixth-place team finish in the 18-team event.

Stamper’s 74 was six shots off the low round of the day, a 68 posted by South Warren golfer C.M. Mixon. Collier Cord from Bowling Green fired a 70 to finish second with Stamper and Brandon Fykes from Franklin-Simpson shooting rounds of 74. The event featured 98 golfers.

In other results for the Patriots, Tate Stinson shot a round of 82, Dawson Birge carded an 84, Brett Rippy notched an 86, and Bryson Bonds posted a round of 95.

AC-S’s team score of 326 was 18 strokes behind the winning score of 308 posted by Louisville Ballard. Franklin-Simpson (313) placed second followed by Bowling Green (317), South Warren (324), and Glasgow (325).

The event marked the final tournament action for the Patriots prior to play on Monday, September 25 in the regional golf tournament to be played at Indian Hills Country Club in Bowling Green. Pairings and tee-times will be announced later this week.

AC-S will face Monroe County in match play on Monday to close their regular season. Tuesday’s home match with Glasgow has been canceled.
