Lady Patriots Capture Top Seed for District

   For the first time in program history, an Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriot volleyball team will carry a perfect 6-0 district record into the District 15 volleyball tournament. Last week, AC-S defeated Monroe County 2-1 (19-25, 25-20, 25-12) to finish the regular season district schedule with an unblemished record. As a result, AC-S will be the top seed in the district tournament that starts on Monday, October 16.

   Thursday’s match win started with the Lady Falcons taking the first set. The Lady Patriots sprinted to a 4-1 lead before the Lady Falcons put together a 9-2 run to open a 10-6 lead. AC-S climbed to within a point, 15-14, but could never overtake Monroe County.

   In the second set, a kill by Nichole Carver, a service winner and an ace by Baylea Cook, and a winner from Macy Ward enabled the Lady Patriots to open a 12-4 lead. The hosts strectche dtheir lead to as many as nine points before Monroe County (13-11, 4-2) chipped away. The Lady Falcons closed to within two, 22-20, before a side out, an ace and a service winner by Olivia Brown closed out the set 25-20.

   The Lady Patriots opened a 6-0 lead in the final set and never looked back. Kills by Kalee Baldwin and Ward and a block winner by Carver enabled AC-S to open a 14-4 lead. AC-S would continue in control the rest of the way to capture the set and match.

   AC-S (13-4, 2-0) returns to action on Monday as the team travels to Butler County (2-20). The Lady Patriots will be at Warren East (16-12) Tuesday prior to closing out the regular season hosting Edmonson County (18-60 on October 12.
