Allen County-Scottsville freshman Tad Koltin Taylor placed 18th in a field of 96 runners to lead the AC-S delegation at the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) Class 2A, Region 2 Cross Country Meet Saturday at Green County High School. Taylor’s time of 19:03.36 qualified the AC-S freshman to compete this weekend at the KHSAA Class 2A Cross Country Championships in Lexington.
Taylor---the third Patriot runner to reach the state meet in the past
five years---led the Patriots on the afternoon. Sophomore Davi Thompson posted
a time of 20:26.49 followed closely by senior runner Frankie Estes who covered
the 5K course in the time of 20:28.14. Additional AC-S runners and their times
included sophomore Conner Davenport (23:32.28), eighth-grader Jacob Carter
(23:49.40), and freshman Matthew Brown (26:27.24). The race was won by Warren
East senior Jacob England in a time of 16:22.95.
In the girls Class 2A meet, senior Maggie Adams posted a time of 26:20.63
to lead Lady Patriot runners. Freshman Gabrielle Tangen recorded a time of
28:13.18 while freshman Sally McPherson posted a time of 29:01.86. The girls
Region champion was junior Sarah Been of Elizabethtown who finished with a time
of 19:36.95.
Taylor will make his state championship meet debut at 11:15 (CDT)
Saturday, November 4, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
