Junior Brett Rippy
scored 22 points and junior Cayden Ross added a career-best 13 points to help
the Allen County-Scottsville Patriots post a 63-30 win over South Warren in the
first game of the Nick Chaykowsky coaching era.
Rippy sank six of nine
shots---including four three-point baskets---to lead the AC-S offense Tuesday.
Rippy also was a perfect six-for-six at the free throw stripe. Ross went
four-for-five from the floor, five-for-five at the line, and recorded four steals
to help AC-S record their first season-opening win since the 2011-2012 season.
Overall, the Patriots
shot the ball extremely well. AC-S finished the game shooting 65.5% from the
floor, making 19 of 29 shots. The Patriots were eight of 11 from the field in
the second half. At the line in the game, AC-S went 17 of 23. The Patriots
outrebounded the Spartans 27-20.
In addition to Rippy
and Ross, junior Bryce Carter added a career-best nine points. Senor Marcus
Carter contributed eight points, had six rebounds, and dished out four assists.
Sophomore Owen Stamper, senior Sam Clarke, and juniors Camden Carver and Chase
Ward also scored in the game.
The Patriot defense
held the Spartans to 25.6% shooting for the game. AC-S also held the hosts to
five points in the third frame and eight points in the final eight minutes.
AC-S (1-0) will seek to
start the season 2-0 for the first time since the 2008-09 season Friday night
at Russellville. The boys only night will start with JV action at 6 p.m. at
Panther Gym.
