Three outstanding basketball players and a talented football player will comprise the Allen County-Scottsville Athletic Hall-of-Fame class of 2013. Former Lady Patriot star Cammie Campbell, Allen County-Scottsville hoopster Warren Cunningham , Allen County basketball standout Wayne Hanes, and Patriot running back Jason “Pancho” Miller will be honored with induction into the fifth Hall-of-Fame class.

Cammie Campbell is a 2002 graduate of AC-SH. The shooting guard helped the Lady Patriots to three consecutive regional titles; 1999, 2000, and 2001. The successes included a 2001 Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) state tournament quarter-final appearance, the first time in 22 years AC-S reached the state tournament’s elite eight. She finished her AC-S career with the school record for most points in a game (42) and as the second leading scorer in Lady Patriot basketball history (1,715). Campbell also played softball for the Patriot fastpitch program, helping the 2000 team capture third place honors at the KHSAA state softball tournament. Campbell played two years of college basketball at the University of Evansville before transferring to Western Kentucky University where she completed her basketball career as a Lady Topper. Campbell was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Indiana State University for four years before taking a job in sports management in South Carolina

Warren Cunningham graduated from AC-S in 1996. The basketball and baseball athlete was a key in the resurgence of Patriot basketball in the mid 1990s. In 1996, Cunningham averaged 18.1 points per game as the Patriots went 29-5 and captured the Fourth Region championship for the first time since 1981. AC-S won their first round state tournament game before being eliminated in the quarter-finals by eventual state champion Paintsville. Cunningham was named to the All-State Tournament team, one of only four boys basketball players from Allen County to ever receive the recognition. He finished his AC-S career scoring 1,254 points. Cunningham was also a two-year starter for the baseball team. After graduation, Cunningham signed with the University of North Carolina-Greensboro where he was a four year member of the Spartan basketball team. Cunningham entered the education field after college. He is currently assistant principal and head basketball coach at Barren County High School in Glasgow.

Wayne Hanes graduated from Allen County High School in 1962. The sharp-shooter was part of a program that won 87 of 93 games over the course of the 1960, 1961 and 1962 seasons. The highlight of Hanes’ career came in 1962 when he helped Allen County to their fourth KHSAA state tournament appearance. The Patriots only loss during a 31-1 season was in the state quarter-finals---with the record the best ever by an Allen County basketball team. After signing with Vanderbilt University and spending a year at the Nashville school, Hanes transferred to Delta State was he was a three-time letterman. He entered the education field and returned to Allen County, spending over 33 years in the school system before retiring in 1999. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Hanes coached the James E. Bazzell Middle School girls basketball team for six years and the AC-S Lady Patriot softball team for seven years.

Jason “Pancho” Miller played football for four years and ran track for five years while in the Allen County school system. On the gridiron, Miller became an outstanding running back. In his high school career, Miller rushed for 3, 119 yards and scored 35 touchdowns. In 1991, Miller averaged 7.1 yards per carry and rushed for over 100 yards in nine of AC-S’s 12 games with the highlight of the year coming when AC-S won their first-ever playoff game. Miller graduated from AC-S in 1993 and went on to play football at three colleges; West Virginia University , Eastern Kentucky University and Thomas More College. Miller’s hard-work ethic helped earn him a chance to play professional football. He would conclude his football career as a professional football player for two years with the Barcelona Dragons of NFL-Europe. Miller participated in the 1999 World Bowl as a member of the Dragons. In 2000, Miller walked away from the game and entered a business career. He also works with underprivileged youth.
