Tech Center Construction on Schedule

Progress continues on the new Allen County Career and Technical Center will completion scheduled for late this year.

Speaking to the Allen County Board of Education Thursday night, Director of Maintenance Clark Towery presented Board members an update on work for the new $11 million facility.

“The brick and block work is complete and the roof is between 95 and 98 percent complete,” Towery explained. “Work on the metal sliding starts next week, the inside stairs are complete and useable, the HVAC system work is about 75 percent complete and duct work is about 80 percent complete.”

Towery went on to say that work on windows will start by the end of August and the installation of the ceiling grids is slated to begin in early September. Once the ceiling grid is in place, workers will install the new daylight harvesting lighting system.

On the outside of the building, work is progressing as well. Towery informed the Board that about 80 percent of the curb work has been finished.

District officials are hopeful that the construction remains on schedule. If so, Tech Center students could make the switch from their classes at the old Technical Center to the new building as early as January.
