Class of 2011 Biographical Information
Two boys basketball legends, a pair of girls basketball stars and a multi-sport athlete will be inducted into the 2011 Allen County-Scottsville Athletic Hall-of-Fame in ceremonies next month. Members of the 2011HOFclass include, Odie Spears, Luther Kelsey, Donna Smith, Michael Hall, and Stacy Felchner.

Odicea (Odie) "Sleepy" Spears (June 17, 1925–March 28, 1985)  graduated from ScottsvilleHigh Schoolin the early 1940s and went on to play college ball at Western Kentucky. A seldom used player in his first two seasons at Western, Spears left college to serve in World War II. Upon his return in 1946, Spears blossomed into a starter for the Hilltoppers, helping lead WKU in scoring his junior and senior seasons. After graduation in 1948, Spears went on to play professionally with several teams. In 1993, Spears was inducted into Western’s Hall of Fame.

Luther Kelsey played at Allen County High School under Allen County coaching legend Jimmy Bazzell. During his career in the mid 1950s, Kelsey helped Allen County continue their success on the basketball court. As a junior in 1956, Kelsey led the Patriots to the quarter-finals of the KHSAA state tournament, the program’s third trip to the Sweet 16 in four seasons.

Donna Smith played for the Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriots during the first years of what has become a tradition rich program. A five year starter, Smith was instrumental in the Lady Patriots winning regional championships in 1976, 1977, and 1979, a year in which AC-S finished as a quarter-finalist at the state tournament. Smith graduated from AC-S in 1979 with 1,570 points---sixth on the all-time list. Smith later returned to AC-S as a teacher and coach.

Michael Hall is a 1981 graduate of AC-S where he excelled in basketball and football. On the court, Hall helped to lead the 1981 Patriot team to the KHSAA state tournament---the school’s first trip in 11 years. On the gridiron, Hall directed the team as quarterback, putting up solid numbers to help the AC-S football program develop.

Stacy Felchner finished her Lady Patriot career in 2001 but not before establishing herself as the school’s all-time scoring leader with 1,750 points. The dominating center was a three year starter helping lead AC-S to consecutive regional championships in 1999, 2000, and 2001. The 2001 team reached the KHSAA quarter-finals---equaling the deepest run ever by an AC-S team. After graduation, Felchner played college ball at Brescia and Lee.
