Patriots Travel to Franklin for Battle with Wildcats

   Allen County-Scottsville (1-1, 1-0) will travel to Franklin-Simpson Friday night for a critical early season Class 4A, Region 1, District 2 clash with the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats (0-1,0-0). 

 

   The Patriots shut out the Warren Central Dragons last Friday to earn their first win of the year. Senior quarterback Trace McIntyre ran the ball nine times for 123 yards and threw the ball for 51 yards to lead AC-S to the victory. Senior Landon Witcher added 113 yards on 12 carries---part of a night in which the Patriots rushed for 381 yards. Defensively, junior Will Moore paced the Patriots with seven tackles. Junior Tanner Stinson intercepted a pair of Warren Central passes, returning one for a first half score.  

 

   Franklin-Simpson dropped a 14-12 decision on the road at Russellville. Luke Richardson was 5/13 for 94 yards and two INT’s. Malik Carter carried the ball 15 times for 64 yards. Hayden Satterly led team with nine tackles. Overall, the Wildcats rushed for 106 yards. 

 

 Friday’s match-up will be the 39th meeting between the schools in a series dating back to 1991. The Wildcats have dominated the series (31-7) and has won the previous six meetings. The last AC-S win came on October 9, 2015 in Scottsville. 

 

    Kickoff is slated for Friday at 7 p.m. at James Matthews Stadium. Attendance will be limited. Pregame screening and temperature checks, social distancing and masks will be required. No on-site ticket sales. AC-S has been allotted 250 tickets with the parents/guardians of Patriot varsity players given the first opportunity to purchase tickets (four or less) early in the week. Remaining tickets will be sold to the community later in the week. For fans unable to attend, the game will be broadcast on WVLE (99.3) and is expected to also be streamed on Facebook at the Franklin Channel.
