Varsity Soccer Underway at AC-SH

Who is Aaron Shain? That will be the correct answer 20 years from now if someone asks the question, “Who scored the first goal in the history of the Allen County-Scottsville Patriot soccer program?”

Shain’s goal just under 15 minutes into last Thursday’s match with Monroe County---played on the grass at Patriot Stadium to further highlight the historical moment---got his Patriots onto the board and cut into the Falcons’ lead. A trio of goals in the first 15 minutes---at the 34:50 mark, 31:22, and 26:19--- staked the visitors to a 3-0 before Shain scored on an attack at the next.

The Falcons added two additional goals to open a commanding 5-1 lead before the Patriots scored again. This time, Shain sailed the ball to Ali Munguia who headed the ball into the falcon’s net at the 14:52 point of the half.

Monroe County---a school that has played soccer for several years---added three goals over the next five minutes to build an 8-2 lead.   With 5:43 left in the opening half, Munguia scored the Patriots final goal of the half on a penalty kick.

The Falcons were outscored 4-2 the rest of the way to win the match 10-7.  However, Munguia scored two more goals in the second half with Shain also added a pair of scores. Goal keeper Tommy Hunt was credited with seven saves.

The Patriots traveled to Hart County last Saturday and dropped a 10-3 match to the Raiders. Munguia scored all of AC-S’s goal on the day. Hunt had 12 saves defensively.

AC-S is scheduled to travel to Russellville for a match next Thursday.
