FRYSC Receives Donation for Backpack Program

Allen County Schools’ Family and Youth Service Center (FRYSC) officials accepted a substantial donation last Friday that will help students across the District. The local Scottish Rite Association in conjunction with Louisville Consistory of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite presented Allen County School District officials with a check for $7,000 which is earmarked for the Backpack Program.

“Our Allen County Scottish Rite Club presents the Family Resource Centers a check each year for the backpack program,” explained local Scottish Rite president Billy Michael Taylor. “The Louisville Consistory matches our donation. This is just a way for us to help out.”

Allen County Schools Chief Academic Officer Melissa Biggerstaff and FRYSC leaders Rhonda Kircher, Angel Clark, Hannah Erwin, and Amy Pitchford accepted on behalf of the District. Biggerstaff thanked Scottish Rite officials for their generous gift.

“We cannot do what we do without support like this,” Biggerstaff added. “Hundreds of kids will benefit from this donation and the other donations we receive throughout the year from the local community.”

Making the presentation included local Scottish Rite members Gary York, Tony Kendall, Tim Alexander, Billy Michael Taylor alongside Terry Bowman, the deputy of the Supreme Council of Kentucky, Randolph Starks, secretary/register of the Valley of Louisville, and Geary Laird, the personal representative of the Valley of Louisville.
