Patriot Cheer Celebrates Season

 The Allen County-Scottsville High School capped their 21-22 cheer season with their annual banquet Tuesday evening. Team members and their families gathered at the fellowship hall at Liberty Baptist Church to reflect on last season---reliving memories from cheer camp, practices, trips, and cheering at football, volleyball, golf, and basketball games. 

 

   The AC-S cheer season in almost a year-round activity. Cheerleaders work in the summer months to start developing their competition routine and rehearsing their sideline cheer repertoire. Last fall, the cheerleaders not only appeared at football games but also supported the volleyball and golf teams---an effort by cheer coach Diane Towe to extend the squad’s support beyond the traditional football and basketball area. Late fall and winter saw the cheerleaders in Kentucky High School Athletic Association competitive cheer competition and cheering the Lady Patriot and Patriot basketball teams. The team also traveled to Florida for a national competition in February. 

 

   Towe presented four awards at the banquet. Senior graduate Cora Towe earned the Best All-Around Cheerleader Award for a fifth consecutive year---an award voted on by her peers. Senior graduate Megan Pearson received the Heart of a Cheerleader Award, senior graduate Emma Cline captured the Outstanding Leadership Award and freshman Ellie Pearson took home the Most Improved Cheerleader Award. 

 

   Additional cheerleaders include senior graduate Alexa Anderson, juniors  Maknylee Anderson, Olivia Davis, Mary Grace Farley, and Carley Bray as well as sophomores Lara Clark, Claire Robison, and freshmen Savannah Cheatham, Alura Keith, Kloie Widenhouse, Kelsey Herrington, Natalee Binion, and Kadence Strain.
